Average daily calories?
Just wondering what everyone else is getting in a day. I think that I am averaging about 600 calories a day now. I read somewhere that someone on the board here was doing 1200 calories a day...and did not loose if she went below that. I am wondering if this is why I keep stalling out and not loosing for weeks on end? I have lost 56 pounds total....but this is my second two week plus stall. do you think its calorie related or just normal?
I was getting about what you are now and at my 2 month my Dr said I should be getting about 1200. It isn't easy and I don't always do it but it does seem to help me. I think I'm a slow loser and the PA said it was because I wasn't getting enough calories so my body was holding on to the fat. I'm 5'5 5'6 (depends on who's measuring) and started at 258 and am down 49 lbs to 209.

Georgia Girl, I also have been struggling to get in more calories. I seem to average about 400-450 a day and I have found if I can eat more I lose more. I am on my second 2 week stall also. The stall can be either, because our body also has to catch up to the weight loss before it will allow us to lose more too. I am going to try to eat more but I don't want to just so I can get in more calories.
My surgeon only wants me to be eating lean meat and green leafy vegetables 3 times a day and it is almost impossible to get many calories that way. I do believe I will try to eat 2 snacks to up the calories for 1 week and see what happens. He doesn't focus on caloric intake and I do believe my body wants to hold on to the fat because of so little calories.
Be sure to drink lots of water because not enough will also stall your weight.

I do average about 900 - 1100 cal a day. Some days I can hardly eat 600 cals, but some days I have no problem eating 1100 cals. Now the day my husband left (military training) for two months, I ate, no kidding 1469 cals. I ate from the time he left at 500am till the time I went to bed at midnight. Guess I found out I am an emotional eater... Now that I see that, I am very very careful not to go hog wild and eat all day long. Cause that is how I am going to screw this thing up! Some days it is easy to hit 1100 cal or more, but just as many days it is hard for me to eat anything at all! The best thing I can do for myself is be aware of what I eat and when I eat, cause I can totally forget to eat! And when I do that, my weight stalls, like it is now! So I am forcing more food in and more water in, and I know my weight loss will kick in again!

Thanks for the input everyone!! I know this is not my board or my thread but thanks for letting me butt in! I have been wondering the same thing about calories and it is something that usually doesn't get talked about! I am 9 weeks today and average about 400-600 most days. I have not added a protein drink in because it is 200 calories and I wasn't sure if I should. I think thanks to all of you that I am going to try it and see if it helps me! Gotta love these boards....such a help! have a great day all!!
