Lately I've noticed that I have been so darn cold it's unbelievable. My doc says cuz my body has less insulation (made me chuckle ) but I've been walking around with gloves on my hands and it's been about 65 degrees outside. I feel like a freak anyone else have this issue. Saida

Sadia, you are not alone. It can be 85 degrees outside and my hands and feet are freezing. I have had to wear a sweater to work on occasion because I can't warm up. Dana

It's not just you. I'm in bed with 3 blankets on me and I'm still cold. The A/C is on and I've been inching it up (warmer) every time I walk past. This last time, I slid it up to 90 degrees. We'll see how that goes. I like to have some occasional air blowing through, just don't want to freeze. Jeanie

You are not the only one! For me, it's two fold. The WLS and I had my gallbladder removed 3 weeks prior. It was so diseased that I was having low grade fevers off and on for 2 years (instead of the hot flashes I thought it was). I used to be cold when I was thin though. My family thinks I'm weird! They were used to wearing heaving clothing around the house in the winter cause Mom would not all the heat to be turned up, LOL Here is something I found when googling the problem: Q. I have heard that people are much more sensitive to cold weather after weight loss surgery. Why does this happen? A. It is true that many people find they need to wear heavier clothing in cold weather after weight loss surgery. There are 2 reasons for this. First of all, fat is a great insulator! (That's why animals that live in cold climates, like sea lions and killer whales, have plenty of it.) Most of your weight loss after weight loss surgery comes from the elimination of excess fat from your body. So, you're losing your insulation as you shed your extra pounds! The second reason has to do with reduced generation of heat. Your body generates heat when your cells do work. When you lose a large amount of weight, your body doesn't need to work as hard to move around. So, your muscles generate less internal heat. You shouldn't worry too much about this, though; after all, you can always put on an extra sweater! Hugs, Susi

Oh my goodness thank U Susi!!!! i guess my doc was right about the insulation part I just thought I was losing my mind (and my heat) but it makes a lot of sense reading that info! Great researching Saida

I hear ya sister! I am much colder now than I ever have been. Between the weight loss and the normal blood pressure now (yeah!) I have to wear socks to bed and ear muff's and gloves to walk the dog. My husband laughs at me when I get ready to walk her, he thinks I'm getting ready to go to the artic tundra. The way I look at it.... I can always add a layer of clothes but prior to surgery I couldn't take off a layer of our natural insulation (fat). I'll take this any day. I am actually looking forward to summer this year. This will be the first summer I actually will be able to enjoy and not just sweat into a puddle! Diana

Yes! I too freeze all the time! My Dr. said that is a good thing because I am NOT eating too much fat! I still wear winter PJ's at nite and I love sitting in the sun, I use my car heater all the time and my family complain because they are hot. Oh Well! LOL!

I'm freezing too! My hubby thinks I'm crazy because I am still using our electric matress pad for extra heat. A physical trainer told me it can take up to a year for your body's tempreture to go back to normal after a major weight loss. It's kind of like when you move from a warm climate to a cold climate....it takes a while before you get use to it.
