Anyone Else Having Potty Problems?

I don't like this subject either - but I am not going potty regularly - I'm getting my protein so that's not it. I can go days and days without going and then go through a day or maybe two of lets just say unpredicable goings...I feel like it's got to be messing with my weight loss - I just think I can't be losing if I'm not "going"... Any input about unpredicable output? Shelaine

Hey Shelaine, I know that I do go less often now. Maybe once every few days. I think it's normal depending on how much your eating. If you're worried, or think it is particularly abnormal, ask your Dr. Best of luck, Cara

Shelaine, yep I'm having the same issues. I have had to take something several times to actually go. It is frustrating to say the least. I also feel that it hampers my weight loss process. I go for my 9 week checkup on Friday and if I haven't done my thing by tomorrow, I'm going to take something . How have you been doing? Dana

Well, this is the biggest problem, I think. Trying to fugure out what to eat is also frustrating - I live alone and I've never liked to cook (don't know how)...my fridge is full of leftovers from restaurants that are going bad (it's getting cleaned out today)...Most of the time, I'd just rather not eat than to have to deal with it - but I do...I'm down 51 pounds...Emotionally and psychologically, I'm doing fine - I really don't think about it much - I can see why people have problems, though, there are members of my family that just can't talk to me about anything else - I think I am starting to resent their focus on it - they say things like "just think about what you are going to look like at Christmas, or a year from now." Funny how these same people were only concerned before about the health risks, - but now all they can talk about is how I'll look - they haven't mentioned better health - not once - ...that doesn't jive. That tells me that they were really worried (probably embarrassed) about my appearance all along and only used the "health" thing as an excuse - so they could say, they were just worried about me and they love me - when really what they were worried about was what their friends and neighbors would think when their fat relative came over. Wow - didn't know I was feeling that way...bet that's not what you expected when you asked How have I been doing? The standard "fine" just wasn't in me this time, I guess...Let's try you... How have you been doing? Shelaine

This is the biggest pain to this surgery that I have. My surgeon put me on colace (stool softener) twice a day. Not sure how much it helps, but I'm afraid not to take it. For a while there, I would be "normal" for a day or two, then not go for about 3 days. He also gave me an enema, but I usually try suppositories first. Usually, just when I got to the point where I was going to break down and use the enema, I would go. From reading about the problems others had on these boards, a lot of people recommended Smooth Move tea. I got some at my grcoery store and I'm hooked. Now if I don't go for a day or two, I'll drink a cup before bedtime and it works like a charm. Might want to give it a try. Cathy G.

You say you got that tea at the grocery store - just in the tea section? Shelaine

I shop in a military commissary, but it was in the tea section with the herbal teas. Since I found it there, I didn't check for it at Wal-Mart. Cathy

Hey Shelaine, Yup!! I get "back-up" too i usually drink a chocolate carnation instant breakfast if I go more than 4 days w/o a poopie and then it's smooth sailing. It has to hamper the weight loss cuz I haven't seen anything on the scale for a couple of days and then I went potty and lost 3 pounds. Also (and this is a bit disguisting) but cuz I had the RNY and its coming out of my small intestines it kinda is shaped like squirt cheese Hope nobody just ate! I was told it's fine unless it's becoming painful then doc must step in. Saida

Oh, yes.... DEFINATELY! I will go 3 or 4 days without and then have one that is so hard it HURTS. *ouchie!* I have tried Benefiber and it doesn't do anything. I'm going to get some Colace and try that, but reading about that "smooth move tea" above, I might try that and see if it helps. I just hate going days without and then dreading it when I do finally "go" because of the pain. The pain has to make it worse that it would be anyway. (you know.... tensing up". So don't feel alone. We're all in the same boat and PRAYING for relief. Hopefully, we can all find something that works for us. Marion -44.5

Hi Shelaine I love your name.. by the way... I control my bowel movements by eating a hand full of cashews a day. I learned that one from the south beach diet. I go everyday like clockwork.. You can also use almonds, walnuts etc. Good luck.. That's not a fun problem. GerrAnn
