7 weeks out today/what are you eating?
Hello I am 7 weeks out today, and down 45 pounds, I am having trouble eating, I kind of think I am scared to eat because I had a few bad experiences chicken and cheese, both got stuck, all I have been eating is tuna and turkey, bananas, and ritz crackers with carb peanut butter, I never feel hungry and I basicaly force myself to eat, what did you all eat at 7 weeks out???
hi michelle. i'm at a little over nine weeks out. i've been trying whatever sounds good and has protein in it. i think i had issues with eating too quickly so i'm trying to slow it down. i've had eggs with cheese and ham chopped into it. i've also developed a fondness for the flavored oatmeal packets for some reason. hope that helps.
take care, michelle. hope you find some protein you like.
talk to you soon

What about protein shakes? Are you getting enough protein? I eat most anything but have to have a protein shake and protein bar everyday. I eat lots of seafood, ground turkey, chicken sausage, mashed potatoes, veggies, fruits, oatmeal, milk, etc.
45lbs is amazing! I'm only down 39lbs, and a week ahead of you.
Best wishes,
Cara
I'm a little further out, surgery date 2/7/05 but I'm eating much of the same stuff you are. I just tried some grilled chicken last night and that didn't sit well at all! Yuck! I like tuna, turkey meatballs with pasta sauce, turkey breakfast sausage, scrambled eggs. I just tried steamed crab legs this weekend and that was a big hit for me. I still do protein shakes about two or three a day. I don't feel hungry much, I do get what I call head hunger for certain things, like the crab legs but most of the time I have to remind myself to eat and to drink. I think drinking water has been more difficult than eating. I used to be a big water guzzler pre op, could down a 20oz Aqua Fina bottle in less than a few minutes, so now it takes a lot longer and sometimes I get frustrated with that. I do understand that a few bad experiences can put you off to certain foods, it does for me too. Just keep trying things. I'm sure it will get better soon. Major congrats on the 45lbs, that is something to be proud of.

Me too!! I eat grilled or baked chicken, steak, chicken salad, veggies, protein shake for b'fast every morning. At work we eat out everyday, I eat Fish (take batter off of course) shrimp (very little I'm allergic in large amounts),Taco Bueno (inside of a taco is a mini taco salad)Chicken hamburgers (inside only) I always choose protein and remove the carb (bread rice pasta) wherever we go and haven't had a problem. I have lost 40 pounds and yesterday the Dr said I wasn't eating enough I should be getting 1200 calories a day and I'm only getting about 600 and not enough protein. Good luck.

Things I eat... normally for breakfast I have three slices of thinly sliced lean deli ham, maybe a banana or cheese for a snack. Lunch is normally leftovers from the night before, or chili (cause it is easy to pack). If I get hungry later, I eat three crackers and cheese or peanut butter and for dinner... i have made grilled lemon pepper shrimp, grilled veggies, and rice... I have a problem remembering to eat at night...until my husbands stomach starts to growl and I remember I forgot to cook!! I do try to eat grilled chicken, or extra lean ground beef....and of course always some beans!!

Hi Michelle,
I'm also seven weeks post-op and am getting adventurous, trying just about anything. I have stayed away from white bread, stuffing, rice, potatoes, etc. for the most part, but on occasion have had a bit.
What seems to work really well for me are the Lean Cuisine meals with turkey and vegetables, plus turkey burgers (not too well done, as they are harder to digest), cottage cheese, soups, chicken salad (either in a tortilla or on top of a lettuce salad) and just about anything slow-cooked. My wife made a pork tenderloin in the Crock Pot that was fabulous. I only ate 2 oz. at a time, but it made great leftovers too.
When I get the feeling that something is just sitting in the pouch, I've been trying to teach myself to STOP. If I don't, the results aren't pretty. But if I stop and give it time to digest, most things seem to work.
My most adventurous dish: a frozen low fat, low carb chicken curry dinner. The rice was OK because there was plenty of sauce.
Good luck! It sounds like you're doing very, very well.

I too am 7 wks post op. I feel the same way about food. I don't crave food, want food. I have to make myself eat food. Nothing seems to spark my interest as far as food. I ate my first salad recently. I never knew lettuce had so much water in it!! Watermelon is VERY GOOD, juicy!! Fruits are about the only thing I like most. I am having a slow weight loss into this 2nd month. My first month I lost 40, now it's dragging. Keep up the good work, and good luck.
