Power Crunch Bars?
I'll be 8 weeks post op on April 16. I haven't tried a protein bar yet. Is the time right? I did discover GO LEAN Crunchy cereal ( by KASHI)and love it. It has a lot of fiber in it and helped "move" things along! People rave about Power Crunch Bars and I see that a sample pack can be ordered. Still can't stand the taste or texture of most meats, pasta, or bread. Go figure! Wouldn't have needed WLS if I'd been able to accomplish that before. Hope you're all doing well. Karen
Karen, I've tried various protein bars and most of them make me wanna . I do like Quaker QSmart bars - Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip (get them in the cereal aisle by the granola bars), they also have Cranberry Almond ones - my hubby liked those. I have tried the Triple Chocolate Power Crunch - it was extremely YUMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want to try the Peanut Butter ones - I've been told that they taste like the Little Debbie Peanut Butter Crunch bars. I've heard that you can buy the Power Crunch bars at Vitamin Shoppe - I haven't looked yet, but I plan to this weekend.

I ordered the multi pack of power crunch and honestly did not like them - HOWEVER I think I am the only one who has said this. They are like wafer cremes. Since I was never a fan of that kind of treat that may be why. My favorites are the South Beach Diet high protein cereal bars (peanut butter flavor) and the Slimfast Low carb diet breakfast bars (again peanut butter flavor). Basically, everyone seems to have to buy tons of bars until they find what works for them. For me, I avoid those with high carbs or those with over 10g of sugar alcohols (those alcohols do not sit well with me). Good luck on your protein hunt!
Please do try the Power Crunch bars. They are very good. I've tried every flavor and Vanilla is my absolute favorite. BioChem also makes Strive bars, and they are tasty too. They have more carbs in them though, and would either be a "big" meal or would need to be eaten in two sittings.
Another suggestion, as I have tried so many things, I love EAS Myoplex Carb Sense RTD in Cafe Caramel. It's easy to take with you and is low in carbs and fat. It tastes just like a coffee drink and is very yummy. Nothing else I've tried that is ready-to-drink comes close.
I know that Vitamin Shoppe does carry all of the above, but there are tons of other stores online and off that carry these things. Just buy a few items and give it a try. I feel 10x better since I have started adding a shake and a bar daily to my diet.
