AM I A sLoW loser?
I am 7 weeks post-op and feel like such a slow loser! There was a period of about two and half weeks where I didn't lose a pound! Actually gained! Is that normal? I am currently at 203.5, which is....-33.5lbs lost.
I can still gulp down drinks like nothing. I really don't ever get hungry, but when I eat, I really don't get full...or maybe it's just I don't know what that feels like since pre-op I NEVER EVER GOT FULL! I just try to porportion my food before I go and eat it. I can eat anything...except more than maybe 10g of sugar and extremely greasy food.

237/203.5/115 (I know, I know, but hey! that's what both my sisters weigh!)
I post my daily diet towards the end of my profile if anyone would be willing to review and and give me some feed back....
I went almost 3 weeks without losing a single pound after about 3 weeks post op. Things happen. If you started out that weight, you also might consider figuring out how much percentage of your excess weight you have lost instead of worrying about the actual numbers. Take your starting weight minus your goal weight. That will give you your pounds you need to lose. Now take how much you have ALREADY lost and divide that by your total pounds you needed to lose. Now add 2 decimal places. (if your number is .3418 it will be 34%) That will give you your percentage lost so far. Trust me you will be surprised! And good luck to you
I think you are doing great, especially since you only started out at 237. I am 7 weeks out and have lost 41 lbs., but I started out at 349. Starting at week 3 until week six I didn't lose anything either. For some reason I thought the weight loss would be quicker, but I'm very happy with the 41 lbs. and feel good.
Good Luck,
Mary M
Lap Last,
Dont worry you are not losing slow at all. You started off at only 237 so for your starting weight you are doing great! Your diet looks good, you are getting in your protein and liquids (one of THE most important things). So dont worry yourself because you are doing great!

I had surgery on Feb 8th 2005 and I weighed 222 (when I started this process in November 2004, I weighed 249.5 but had to lose 10% (24 pounds) but lost 27. I am 10 weeks post op and I weigh 190 and have weighed that for 2 weeks. I am hoping that I will at least weigh 189 by the end of the month. My goal is to get out of the 190 zone by May 1st. I have only lost 32 pounds post surgery but a total of 59.5 pounds all together. So I am truly a slow loser. The Dr. told me I was on track and that I did not weigh that much going into the surgery (222) so not to expect a huge loss. The best part, I have lost 2.5 dress sizes and I have been off all my meds since the day before surgery and have felt wonderful.
Take care and I can be reached at [email protected]. Thanks for listening.
Wow!!! That's aMaZiNg!!! I can't believe you lost 59 lbs! Whether it be because of surgery or not. You need to congratulate yourself. It is deFiNitelY not easy to lost 27 lbs on your own. again....WOW!!!

237/191/115...that's what both my sisters weigh anyway...
Did I mention I'm NOW at -46 lbs? yea me!
We started out at exactly the same weight prior to surgery. My surgery date was 2/24/05 and I have lost 32 pounds. I feel that this was exactly the right pace.
I hit a plateau about 2 1/2 weeks and felt like the world was going to end. Then something changed, I am now losing about 2 pounds a week now.
Just stick with the diet, know that your doing this for yourself and in the end you will get to goal!

Dear Lap Last,
I think you are right on target for the amount of weight you need to lose. All body types are different and sometimes it takes a bit to heal and get the body moving, but I think you are doing fine. How do you feel?
I feel so blessed to be off my meds. I have 182 lbs to lose total so you would expect me to lose more quickly in the begining and I have. I'm now down 51 lbs. I do exercise every day and I know that helps. If you haven't incorportated exercise into your routine, you might want to try it.
