Lean Cuisine Meals?
Just wondering if anyone has tried anything like this so far. Last night, I fixed one that I found in the freezer (from pre-op days), it was a 9 oz meal, 280 calories, 21 grams protein, 25 carbs....anyway....I was able to eat the chicken out of it...and a bite or two of the pasta...not even half the meal because everyone knows the meat is always very sparce in these...but I guess it came to about 1 oz of meat....I was actually able to tolerate this much better than I expected.
What have you guys tried that goes down well? I am running out of ideas and am so bored with cottage cheese, cheddar cheese, etc...HELP!
Dear Lori,
I haven't tried one yet, because I really can't do meat yet, it gets stuck. I stick to eggs, cottage cheese, beans, and yogurt. My friend told me about soy protein, but I haven't tried any yet. I also rely on any whey protein and protein bars/shakes to try and get all of my protein in.
Good Luck,
Mary M.
Lori, I was getting so tired of what I was eating for lunch, so yesterday morning on my way into school, I stopped and bought two Lean Cuisines.
I had Chicken Carbonarra for lunch yesterday - actually about three bites of the chicken and one bite of pasta - it sat like a rock - not sure I'll eat that one again. It did have 25 carbs (pasta) and 19 protein - I'm sure I only got 1/2 or less of the protein in and I'm not worried about the carbs since I only ate one bite. Today I'm having Salisbury Steak and Mac & Cheese 27 carbs, 25 protein, 4 sugars and 280 calories. Hopefully it will go down better than the chicken did.

When I went in for my 6 week check in with my nutritionist, she told me to try the Lean Cuisine meals. I have eaten them several times and have handled most of them fine. I did try the Chicken Carbonna and it did not sit well. I think it may have been the bacon. I have eaten the chicken parm with the side of lasagna. It was very good. I just try to keep it pretty bland and stay away from the rice.
Good luck,
Carol
Hmmm,
I eat a really well balanced diet, but I totally stay away from the rice, pasta, flour, and potatoes. I got a turkey breast and baked it last weekend and added some different veggies to make up my own little dinners so that all I have to do is grab one. If I want a REAL treat I'll take along two cubes of melon. 2 oz of turkey is 28 g of protein. The veggies are good for you and very nutricious. I'm not saying never to eat one of those, but there are some really good recipes out there and then the food doesn't have all the preservatives in it. I cook only 1 day per week, but it will last for meals to come. Generally make 3 different things.
Check out Dame Tooter's profile. She has a lot of good recipes.

I've tried some small meatloaf and mashed potatoes frozen dinners. They seem to go down easy if you take your time. A couple of weeks ago I tired half a soy burger and thought I was going to die. It was really painful. I think it expanded in my stomach. I still can't do chicken yet. I seem to have some tolerance for sugars, my wife baked some cinimmon raisins squares for a meeting and I was able to keep 3 squares down with no dumping syndrome.
