I just started taking a medication I was taking before WLS. I have been taking it for a week now and I just rememberd we are not supposed to take extended release meds ? Does anyone remember why?

Because your body doesn't 'extend' digest any more! Extended release would still be releasing long after you had a chance to absorb it all.
