Ok I'm seeing a lot of you guys talking about snacking. I am told by my doctor that there is no snacking. Three meals a day, Breakfast, lunch and dinner and that's it. Not that my appetite is ravaneous but sometimes I might just want something in my mouth but not a meal so to speak. Also, I read in one of the post that increasing the # of calories helps in weight loss. I guess because all I've been eating is between 300 - 400 calories a day has not been doing it. Please give me some feedback. Thanks,

Sadia, I also am allowed 3 meals a day only, no snacking. Each Dr. has a different protocol for their patients. Follow your surgeons plan as he knows what is best for you. I am not eating a whole lot of calories either. My dr. isn't concerned, I talk to the nurses a couple days a week. If you are following your dr.'s plan, you are doing great. Dana

my doc allows for one or two high protien, low calorie snacks during the day. and the calorie thing, als long as your getting in what your doctor reccomends calorie wise, your okay, if you go under that your body may go into starvation mode and hold on to EVERYTHING!

You're right - every doc is different - mine says that after my six weeks, when I begin to eat like I will for the rest of my life, it'll be 5 to 6 small meals a day. And it may be necessary for me to eat a little something about every two hours. I wonder why they are so different.....

My doctor advocates 3 meals and 2 high protein snacks. Protein shakes and bars are good, cheese, hard-boiled eggs, soy crisps, yogurt, milk, etc. But if your Dr. says no snacks, don't go against it because of what we say. It's your body and your choice. Cara RNY 2/15/22005 341/306

good morning saida: we're all still in the honeymoon stage with our pouches. personnally, i don't think of it as snacking. i've actually been eating smaller portions about four times a day. that will probably become a way of life for me. as they say in weigh****chers Eat Less More Often (elmo). i find that if i try to stay with three meals i actually get too hungry in between. and if i keep the portion size to 3 oz instead of 4 oz i will generally get less of a problem in the pouch area after i'm done eating. so that's what's working for me. but we're all different and all of our doctors have different orders/ideas. mostly, i think we basically need to figure out what will work for us and then work it. hope that helps. dorthe

It helps a lot. This site is really a true help. I know we must followwhat our doctor's say and I most certainly will. But its very helpful to hear what everybody is doing and the suggestions we all have.
