Pain
I am 4 weeks and 4 days out from surgery. Surgery date 02/28/05. I am still having intense pain in my lower left part of my abdomen, it feels like muscle pain, but it is very painful. Sharp and stabbing type pain. I can not bend down at all. I am 29 years old and I am not a whiner, I promise. I have had two C-sections and 1 panniculectomy and this is killing me. What is funny, is that I was doing fine 1-2 weeks after surgery-This pain came later. Does anybody else have this type of pain?
Thank you for listening.
Amanda,
Man girl, I think you should call your surgeons office and ask them.
I had surgery 4 days before you and I feel like normal and have for a long time. I don't think this sounds typical. At least if you call you will feel better knowing something. I know I wasn't much help but please keep us posted, we will be worrying about you...

Thank you very much for your nice reply. Honestly that is what is so funny. I have been in touch with my surgeon who says it is nerve endings regenerating. He put me on a drug called Nuerontin-over two weeks ago that has not helped at all. I had surgery the same week as two co-workers and they also have not experienced such pain. Like I said before, I am really and not a whiner, so this is very unusual for me. I feel like I should be back to normal and getting back to my busy lifestyle. This has been a major setback. I am eating fine-for the most part. I am getting my protein in and taking my vitamins, so it is not diet related. I hoping it will just fade out.
Amanda, that is about the same time that my left sided pain came back. It was sharp, stabbing pains and my doctor warned me that it would happen at my 2 week follow up visit. Usually, if I was sitting down - as long as I shifted positions in the chair - the pain would let up. If I was standing, I just really had to breath thru it and it went away fairly quickly. I would think if it continues much longer, you should let the doctor know again. Mine lasted about 1 1/2 weeks - off and on.

Hey Amanda
I had my surgery on 2/15/05 I also felt great for like the first month....Then all of a sudden I started getting a real strong cramp like pain on my right side. It would affect me at different movements which was weird to me. I thought to myself why am I getting these pain when Im almost a month out and had no problems at that point. Well the pain was so bad I finally contacted my doctor assistant she told me it is a very common complaint on some people after like 3 to 5 weeks after the actual surgery. What it is your muscles are healing and everytime you move your stretching them so it causes pain. She told me to do some simple little type of exercises to help the pain get better. She told me stand in front of a mirror put your hands on your waist and try to turn all the way left, like your trying to look back without moving from your waist down or your feet. Try to do 2 sets of ten on each side. I did just a couple of times when I would remember through out the day and the pain just disappeared Hope this helps
Feel better girl!!!!!
