5 weeks post op and not losing weight
I had surgery five weeks ago and the first two weeks lost 21lb. I am so depressed that since then I have lost nothing. I know I am not the only one out there from other posts but still feel that maybe I am the only one the surgery won't work for. I get depressed. I try to stay positive but can't stay away from the scales.
Diane,
I know exactly how you feel..I am 6 weeks post op and have lost 17lbs. I was told to increase my protein, water and excercise..I did that last week faithfully and weighted this week and had lost more 2lbs. So, I will continue to drink, eat and excerise daily..I know it's hard and depressing but just hang in there the weight has to come off because we are not eating enought for it not too..think postive and remember as I was told..it wasn't put on overnight and it will not come off overnight..keep the faith, it will happen.
I'm 6 weeks out and lost a bundle at first and have lost only 3 lbs the last two weeks. I lose so much more when I consistently consume at least 800 cals a day. When it is below 700, the scale barely moves. Are you tracking your calories? Try www.fitday.com and keep track for a few days. If you are eating less than 700, try bumping it up and if you are eating more than 1000 (which I doubt you are) cut it back a few hundred. Everyone is different, so everyone has a different trigger point. But when what you're doing isn't working, why not try something else.
Best wishes,
Cara

Diane, gurl I know the feeling, my head was so swelled after losing 10 lbs a week for 2 weeks and then it went down to 5 lbs then 1 pound then i thougt I would die. I'm like all this pain and that's it! But I had to get a taste of reality and realize that this procedure is a tool. I still have to drink the water (yuk) and put some exercise in my life and actually from reading what people posted to you I have to look at my calories. But I average now 3 lbs a week and thats ok for me. It's ok to feel down but dont stay there. These web sites really help. Keep up the fight! Saida
Diane, join the club honey. I went 3 weeks and lost 1 lb. I was so upset but did up my protein a little, started trying to drink more liquids and since Monday I have lost 4 lbs. Your body has to adjust and it will start again.
Have you measured yourself? I measured before surgery and at 4 weeks and was happy with the inches lost. Last week when the weight wasn't coming off someone told me to measure myself again because I was losing inches. Lo and behold, I lost 11.5 inches on my body in 1 week.
Your doing fine, take a deep breath and focus on your plan.

Hi Diane,
I'm 8 weeks post op and have lost 44lbs!! Every week i loose about 5 to 10lbs... I don't jump on a scale every week!! I wait for at least 2 weeks to know if there is a difference! I don't want to get discouraged!! I know it will make me depressed!! But you have to have a positive look!! Never think negative!! If you do that, you will start to see results! I have gotten myself exercising at a gym in Santa Barbara and that has helped me stay motivated along with the positive feedback i get from Co-workers and my family!! I have never regretted doing this surgery!! I apraise it and look at how my life will be after all this weight is off!! I feel happier that i did it!!
Who was your surgeon?? I noticed that you live on Base?? just curious, I live in Lompoc so if you need some support, email me anytime at [email protected]
I'll be happy to get together with you and talk or whatever you like!!

Diane...I am so there with you! I was stressing so bad this week because the scale hasn't moved a pound for two weeks...so I was like
Then I read all the other posts about people dropping like 75lbs in 3 months and I was really like
But like everyone has said...and I appreciate the info....let's just up our protein and start some exercising...we should get back on track then!
Good Luck to you!
