Nausea? Anyone?

It's so awful. I am supposed to take in 4 ounces every waking hour - of anything that liquifies at body tempature. If I take it in less than 15 minutes - I begin to sweat, get nauseated, and usually just lay down and close my eyes until it's over. I haven't thrown up - but I would rather. To not get sick, I have to take it in so slowly that I would literally be sipping constantly, which is impossible to do with a full time job. So, I haven't been taking in enough lately (like for the past week). I know I need to but, how? I'm either drinking or laying down ALL the time and can only afford to do that on the weekends. My boss is very understanding, but come on - I have to be able to function in some capacity. I have laid down here at work in the bathroom floor and in the floor in my office - I can't be doing that all the time - Am I alone here?!?!?!?

Shelaine, I feel for you girl. I to am having problems getting in the liquids. I do really well in the morning until I eat breakfast (1/2 oz of lean meat) and then struggle the rest of the day. I believe my food is staying in my pouch for a while and eating the protein also keeps me full. I have noticed though that my weight has stalled for about 3 weeks, yesterday I drank 58 oz. of water vs. about 42 I get in regularly and I loss 3 lbs. yesterday. I understand it will get better, just continue to do what you can. Do not make yourself nauseous, just continue to work up to your required amounts. Dana

Try sipping on that 4 ounces throughout the hour and don't chug it all at once. Nausea can be brutal. I had 2 weeks of it, weeks 3 and 4. I hope yours gets better soon. Jeanie

P.S. Not getting in enough fluid can make you nauseated, so it's a no-win situation if you don't drink enough.

Thanks Jeanie, I was fine until I had an episode the day after my 2 week follow up - Grits were on the list of things I could have - they got stuck - it Hurt! I went a few hours without anything until the pain went away and then I went to sleep - another 8 hours without. I was timid the next couple of days - not wanting anything because I was sore. When I started trying agian, the nausea started. You are probably right - it's because I am not getting in enough. The grits episode started a domino effect. I'll go slower and try to work my way back up again over the next couple of days.

Shelaine, I have nausea big time and since I am vomiting taking it by mouth wasn't helping. So my dr gave me Phenergan Suppositories and I am at least holding my fluids down but still having problems with certain foods, just about all. If I eat any slower I start to get sleepy. This is major concentration for me.....I am not a foodie and am allergic to so many things so I don't have many choices. I try to get at least 3 Atkins or Slimfast LoCarb Protein drinks in me..water I do okay but am concerned about not getting calories. My nausea and vomiting started after my 1 month appt. and with the vomiting I get this massive head pain which feels like a damaged nerve. Fri I am having cat scan, ab and pevic scan w/o contract due to allergies. My PCM wants to be sure its not something more serious. I don't relate the head pain to surgery, it only got worse with the vomiting. Are you taking your vitamins and B12 shots? My surgeon decided on B12 for me every 2 weeks for 2 mons, then every 3 weeks for 2 months and then once a mon after that for life. It seemed to help with my nausea. I must say the worse feeling is like something is stuck no matter how little it was, it can take up to 2 hrs for it to pass. All in all I said to my hubby tonight, "even with the nausea & vomiting, I rather suffer this that be fat & unhealthy". It will get better I am sure for all if us.

I haven't vomited yet, but the nausea started in my 3rd week. I think it is getting better - I think that Jeanie was right in my case. I increased my fluids and started taking them in slower and have been okay. Not great, but okay. My doc has not said anything about B12 shots. I take 2 Flinstones, 2 Tums w/Calcium a day (doc's orders) plus I add VitaMist 4 times a day. I think that stuff is awesome. I think they make a B12 in it. And 100% of it is absorbed. I may add that. I know what you mean about that stuck feeling - I'm sorry yours lasts so long - mine lasts about 30-45 minutes. I've got my fingers crossed for you that all your tests are fine and this will just pass - for both of us.
