Heartburn......
Before surgery...I had a terrible time w/ reflux. I was on Protonix daily. After the surgery the surgeon told me not to take it any more....that it would not be necessary due to the lack of enzymes in my stomach. I was fine for the first couple weeks...but for the last two....I have had heartburn daily....and it gets really bad at times. I have been using tums....and they help...but I hate this feeling. Anyone else getting frequent heartburn?
I used to be on Prevacid, then my doc switched me to Nexium.
After surgery the surgeon put me on Prevacid Solutabs. I took those for 6 weeks and now I'm back on Nexium. The heartburn is awful! I have GERD.
That didn't improve or doesn't seem to have with surgery. But that's ok, I'm still on 13 less prescriptions then I was before surgery. So I'll take the few ones I have to now.

The heartburn is better than it was pre-op for me if I look at the whole day - but right after I take my anti-depressant every night, I wish I would just die for about 45 minutes. The burning is so intense. My doc's office suggested taking Gaviscon 30 minutes before I take the pill and then not drinking anything in between. But it doesn't work. I feel your pain!
