So far since surgery, I have not eaten anywhere except at home. I have not been out to eat....or to a family member's home. How have things gone when you guys have?

I've gonme out to eat plenty of times. i make my husband order stuff I can eat and I keep a little measuring cup in my purse/car so I don't overeat. but so far it's gone good and I've lost 35 lbs.

I've eaten out a few times, but all I ordered was a side order of mashed potatoes! LOL For a change once, I asked them to melt some cheese on top. Now that I'm 4 weeks out, I can order fish, shrimp, tuna, deli meat (no bread yet) and other soft or easily digested things. I feel so proud to be able to actually order a MEAL when I go out now. Granted, it might take me a week or two to fini**** but I can at least order it! Marion 407.5/381.8/170 4 weeks out

On my trip home from surgery, I had chicken wings from Pizza Hut and refried beans with cheese from Taco Bell. Since being home, I've had Wendy's chili, Imo's pizza, Pizza Hut pizza, mozzarella sticks, more chicken wings, and salad. We usually order out once a week, and I tread lightly but try things to see how they sit. I'll be 6 weeks post-op on Saturday. Jeanie Duodenal Switch 02/12/05

LOL! Yeah, it's different. I still have to be careful and go slowly, though. We took 2 days to drive home and I did fine with the beans and wings. Of course, I was full of pain killers. I have to eat something about every 2 hours and I'm still finding out what agrees and what doesn't. I got sick of refried beans after a week. White meat chicken doesn't agree with me too well. Unfortunately, carbs seem to sit the best. One day something sounds yummy and the next day I think I'm throwing out a lot of food and hubby is making frequent trips to the grocery store, bless his heart. Jeanie

hi again, lori. to answer your question, we've eaten out many times in the past month or so. i've always ordered the soup or chili. it's worked out well thus far. if i want to try something on hubby's plate he's ok with that. the thing i have trouble with has been at home - i tried some food that was greasy and it stopped me cold. no hurling, just hours long nausea. it's so cool, too. it's way cheaper to go out to eat with my new pouch. again, happy easter. dorthe

I am very sensative to A LOT of food....I never know if something will agree with me or not. I can eat it one time, and the next it makes me sick after a bite or two....so that has been one of my real worries about eating out or going to family/friends home for dinner. We are going to my mother's for Easter dinner.....I just hope everything goes okay.

Hi Lori, I eat out lunch almost every day. My friends tease me because the most my lunch has cost has ben 1.50 (lol) The problem with me is I am a big chicken to try things, so I eat the same things over and over and I am growing mighty board with my choices. I have had refried beans with cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy, chicken salad, and tortillia soup. And that's about it! BORING Sharon 212/189/???
