Just wondering how everyone is doing on their protein and water? Are you getting your required amount daily....I'm not....I am almost there...averaging about 55 grams of protein a day...and water, well...about 40-45 ounces a day. I am trying, but i feel like all I do is drink. How is the weight loss going? On my first post-op visit...I was 10 days out and down 18 pounds....I am still loosing, but its not as fast now. I will be 4 weeks post on Monday, and have lost about 30 pounds. I feel like I am loosing a lot slower than anyone else....but I guess at least I am loosing. I really don't see much of a loss on my body...I mean...I can tell in my face, ankles, hands, and maybe slightly in my legs...but that is all.....I guess I thought that I would have noticed a little more "missing" than that. oh well.....hopefully soon.

Hi ya Michelle! I know what you mean about the water....its hard.... I am still taking the protein shakes, usually 1-2 a day....I have a hard time eating enough to make it without them...and I am still not getting in the right amount. I suppose that will come with time. Are the protein shakes difficult for you? I find that the first few sips are okay, but by the time I get to the end of one, I am practically gagging trying to get it down...not because I am full or anything, but it just tastes so bad. I had bought a sample pack, and enjoyed them before surgery....so I spent about $100 on canisters....and guess what....they are all nasty to me now. My favorite I guess has been the Dynamatize elite orange dreamsicle...and proplete gold banana creme. I have Very Cherry Berry Nectar....and can't stand it....Isopure Dutch Chocolate...and can't stand it....I just hate to waste all that money......ouch! What foods do you do better with? Shrimp and really moist chicken are good....but I am board with them. Cottage cheese gags me now.....as well as tuna, eggs, canned chicken breast.....I am running out of ideas! Maybe we can help each other come up with some yummy foods... Lori Hey...same goes for me....email me anytime.

Hi Lori... I agree food is getting really boring. I like refried beans, little sour cream and cheese. I also like to eat cheese grits, eggs. I have melba toast with my chicken and tuna salad. Deviled Eggs are delicious and I drink Fat Free Milk (protein)... I do pretty good with my protein. I drink two shakes a day. I have grape protein mix and it taste like grape kool-aid...delicious. (28oz protein) I also have unflavored protein mix with 1/2 banana and my 8ozs of fat free milk... taste pretty good (36oz of protein). I hear that sf pudding (cheesecake flavor) is really good with protein shakes- makes them better tasting. re: fluids- u know sf popsicles and jello is considered fluids... email me whenever u guys like - I love new ideas. At least you have lost 30lbs...I am 5 weeks out and have only lost 15lbs. I excercise, drink protein and water and have not had any problems with eating but I am quite disappointed in my weight lost. I called my doctor's office concerning this matter and was told to keep doing what I'm doing and the weight will come off! Well, it's not. But I will press on and continue to do what I have been doing and hopefully I will see some results real soon...

Hi Mel, Did not mean to make you feel bad...sorry if I did. I have quite a bit of weight to loose.....I started out at 335 pounds...so I guess I expected that it would come of quicker. If you don't mind me asking, what was your starting weight? I know how you feel about the disappointment though.....but keep that chin up.....I bet you will see a lot come off all at once.

You and I are in the same boat! I am 6 weeks out now and only about 15 pounds down. I don't know what I may have lost in the last week because I promised to only weigh once a week from now on. I can tolerate all food and water and exercise a lot, every day. It is so hard so hear how well everyone else is doing. Good luck to you! Ruth

hi all: i'm kinda new to this board. i've been posting in MN on the state message board. but i thought i'd check this out. i can so relate. my lap rny was done on 2/8/5. by my first month checkout i was down 28 pounds. i guess we all expect more. but i started out at 440, so i thought it would just melt off. my issue, though, was that i was in a leg cast for the first month. was not able to get out and walk. i'm having a real issue with getting my protein, as well. i finally started trying the protein shakes and i think every one of them i've tried has tasted godawful. my most favorite food so far has been yogurt. hope i hear from you all. it's so much easier to relate to people who have had the surgery at about the same time as i have. glad i found the site. until next time dorthe
