I had surgery 2/28 and doing well. Insurance denied (was a specific exclusion in my policy.) Has anybody fought this and won??? So I paid for the surgery myself with loans from sister and bank. I have had a couple of emotional/weepy days - common? this is my first time on the message board but will be back. Trying to go back to work 4/4 but not sure I have the energy - I take a couple of naps a day and I work 4 10 hour days - not sure how this will work. Also taking care of my brittle diabetic mom (78 yoa) and feeling overwhelmed. I think I need a nanny! Later...

Peg, I read on one of the boards that a lady was going to file a discrimination suite against her insurance company. She wrote to the states insurance board, who I guess took it up with the insurance company in question and they did pay for the surgery. The insurance board is located in most state capitals. We are not a minority and you need to speak up for your rights as a premium paying customer!! You know the squeeky wheel gets the grease. The only thing you have to loose is the weight. Good luck Hoppy Easter, Kate

HI Peg, Welcome to the 2/2005 board. I had surgery on 2/28 also....I know what you mean about the weepies....I get them too. I don't know much about fighting a denial.....Have you checked out the obesity lawyers that advertise here on this site? I see their ads quite often. Good luck with everything.
