my RYN surgery was feb. 8th, and I was wondering how people just a little ahead of me are doing. I have had a G-tube in for the past 5 1/2 weeks since surgery( I get it out in three more days!) I have been using it to feed my shakes and vitamins. I have a liquid multi-vitamin and crushable Iron and B-12. I need to hear some ideas of what vitamins others are using. My Doc. says no time release meds or vitamins and I can't see myself crushing vitamins or meds. in applesause for the rest of my life...I have read where others are taking small pills by mouth. Can I do that at 6 weeks and just how small do they have to be? Any suggestions would be nice...Cory

I'm taking a liquid b-complex store brand and taking a Centrum chewable multi-vitamin. They both have a orange flavor so neither is bad at all. The chewable vitamin tastes much like the child Flintstones vitamins. Hope that helps!

Cory, I am taking Centrum Chewables. They are orange flavor and it grows on you. I have not gotten nausea or vomitting anytime I have taken them. I am sure to take them after a meal of protein to aid in better absorption. I hope this helps you! Diana

5 1/2 weeks of the G-Tube???? Oh my Lord!!!!!!! I had mine in two weeks after surgery and it wasn't a better day when I got it out. Little by little, it has been getting better for me, especially with my intake. You probably won't have to keep crushing everything. It was a little rough for me too at first but gets better and the smaller and more flexible the pills are, the better it is for you to swallow them whole. Also, try drinking something hot afterwards to help them melt down.

It has been a LOOOOONG six weeks. I get this thing out tomorrow!! and I will feel more normal I hope. That is a good idea to drink something hot after to melt the pills. What do you mean more flexible? Like a liquid or jell capsule? Cory

Yes, the capsules wtih the flexible outside that you can see through, gel capsules or small pills. I also have a pill cutter to cut the pill if it is too big or if I think or have had problems swallowing it whole. You can get a pill cutter at any drug store. You will feel a whole lot better once you get the dreadful G-tube out. Beverly

Thanks everyone for the advise...I got the tube out and I feel back to normal again!!! My Dr. said I could take a pill as big as my pinky nail but no bigger...That is a God send...He also said the sublingual B-12 is better to take. Cory
