It's Sunday - did you work out today?

So who worked out today? I'm finally cleared for almost all of my pre-op fitness activities, so today was my first day back in the pool. I take a waterbiking class - if you're not familiar with it, basically it's a spinning class set in the pool. I could definitely tell today that I've lost some strength while I've been recovering, because the class kicked my butt (in a good way)! All I ever hear is that exercise is the key to success with WLS. So what did you do today? Looking to get new ideas and maybe some motivation too!

I haven't worked out yet today. I went to Sunday School and then had to come home and fix lunch for my entire family... parents, grandparents, children, etc. I'm going to try to at least get my walking in today, but I will be back on my exercise ball/yoga tomorrow along with my walking. I'm 6 weeks post-op and was just cleared last week for all exercises and I'm excited about it. I want to know more abou****er spinning.... are the bikes in the pool??? That sounds like such a dumb question but that is exactly what it sounds like you are doing. Sounds like fun. Lynn H.

Yup, water spinning is exactly what you're imagining. Special spinning bikes are put into the pool, so you're about chest-high in water while you're riding. The bikes use the water for resistance, and being in the water is nice and refreshing while you ride. Although now that I'm post-op and COLD all the time, getting out of the pool afterwards is a bit painful. I love my exercise ball too! Do you have a DVD that you use with it or anything? I also love yoga, but I only get to take yoga at the gym every few weeks due to my schedule. It's so relaxing, though! Congrats on being cleared for exercise.

Wow, that bike class sounds fun, I wish I had a gym nearby that did that. My nearest gym is a 45 minute drive. So I have to do all my exercise at home. I do have a DVD for my Balance Ball. It's called "Balance Ball Beginner's Workout" It's by Suzanne Deason and Gaiam. I have a Denise Austin DVE on Fat-Blasting Yoga. It's HARD !!! but fun. I ordered them both from QVC. Lynn

Hi Jennifer, I did get in some exercise today. My DH and I went to a large flea market and walked for about 2 1/2 hours (not very fast though, we had to window shop a little), then went home and walked 1 1/2 miles at a faster pace to get some cardio in there. Looking into joining your local YMCA, hopefully this week. I can tell I've lost some arm strength already and need to get on some weights. Good luck on your journey and keep up that exercise. Dana

I am so proud of my febbers who are exercisng... congratss. well I too have really begin my walking. I walk 2 miles a day and have recruited my manager to walk with me at work. Its a great bonding time btwn the two of us. She had wls almost 2yrs ago and does not exercise enough- so the newbie (me) has motivated her to work out more..I am happy for her. Keep up the great work everyone

Hi Am new to this board, but yes I did get my 20 minutes on the treadmill today. It seems so easy now, whereas before I got winded at 10 minutes. I have gotten clearance for any exercise, but I find any raising my arms above my head, to pull the tummy muscles, really is not comfortable yet. I am four weeks postop and feeling great!
