Hello fellow Febbers! I have to tell on myself, I hope I don't jinx it... I have just had 4 girl scout cookies with no ill effects, (that is scary!) I figured there would be a penalty for the pleasure. I have been eating pureed chicken breast, tuna salad, cheeseburger patty, salmon, and steak with A-1. All without problems. Weird, huh? I went from everything hurting a few weeks ago to this! I am still taking the Pepcid and Carafate, and am still having trouble with plain water-yuck! I used to be a big water drinker. I am unsure how to begin veges and salad, as I use the food processor for everything. Please tell me what everyone else is doing/eating... Deb

Hey Deb, Your a brave gal aren't you (the cookies) man I am so scared of dumping that I can barely try new things. As far as eating goes I am now at the soft stage. Last night I decided to try meat (not pureed) for the first time and boy was it good. I took 1 piece of Canadian Bacon and topped it with a shaving of turkey breast (from the deli) and some mozz cheese, stuck it under the broiler and I felt like I had died and gone to Heaven!! So far I have had no problems. I would love to see what others are trying new and eating?? Glad you are doing so well, can't help you with the salad though, I hear maranating it may help soften it. Good luck, Sharon

Gosh cookies? You are braver than I. I am also scared of dumping and haven't tried anything sweet. I find that I don't miss is much. I am on my full diet, but my doc says no raw viggies until 3 mo. out. I would LOVE a salad, but I will wait. Not much protein in them either. Meat still doesn't agree with me, in any form so I mainly have been eating cottage cheese, beans, and yogurt. Not very exciting, but at least I am not feeling uncomfortable with the meat. Good Luck, Mary M.

WOW Cookies (especially girlscouts..mmmm). I thought about their shortbread cookies Wednesday- but immediately dismissed that thought. YOU are brave girl ... What am I eating? chicken in the can, eggs, refried beans, seafood, tuna, crisp toast and melba toast is about it. I cant have beef or chicken until I am 8weeks out... so I have another month - before I can even try that. A hamburger patty with cheese sounds so good. I drink my protein shakes, my water and thats about it. Say NO to cookies and stay away from sugar ... Have a good day all, Brigitte

You sound like me - I've been able to eat basically everything with no problem. I've been eating lots of pureed protein, but I also went out for Chinese food twice with my study group. I got chicken and broccoli and ate the chicken VERY SLOWLY and chewed it VERY WELL, and everything stayed down with no problem. (And it lasted for four meals altogether - good thing leftovers work with my pouch. Lol.) My favorite is 3 ounces chicken in a can, 1 ounce mashed potatoes. I also really like refried beans with melted cheese and hot sauce on top. As far as salad goes, I'm not technically supposed to eat that until six weeks out - but I had a bite of hubby's salad when we went out the other night. It was SO GOOD! Just nice and textured and crisp. Refreshing. I did have a pinch of a peanut butter cookie (and I do mean just a pinch) when I studied the other night. It didn't make me dump, but I do dump on too much fat. I had a bad experience with taco meat that wasn't quite lean enough. It was horrible and scared me off Mexican food pretty much for life. I'm done with finals now and will be back on track with eating. It's not that I've been eating badly, but probably too many carbs - I'm making a big pot of soup tomorrow. Sounds like you're doing great, though!

Hmmm, what kind of girl scout cookies? My favorites were the thin mints or some kind that had caramel, chocolate and coconut. Those were the days! Well, since our surgerys were almost the same date (Feb 16) I feel a special kinship with you. I eat almost anything I want, but really focus on the protein. I eat mainly canned chicken w/ Miracle Whip, Hormel chili w/o beans, various cheeses (so easy to eat!), and SF pudding or popsicles. I add protein drinks whenever I feel I'm short on my daily intake. I successfully ate a corned beef dinner, and it lasted 5 days! It was so good. I avoid raw vegetables for the time being, and I really miss the salads. I console myself with the reminder that there is almost no protein there anyway. As far as sweets go, I admit I have allowed myself a pinch of birthday cake at work. No ill effects, anyway. I wish you the best in your journey. Shirley

All of the Nerves are not working yet in your pouch...so it may be OK now when you eat Cookes in a couple of more weeks it may make you sick all day. I am really trying to eat now the way I will forever. I like the Crystal Lite added to water and decaf teas and coffee ask your Doc. my says anything decaf counts as water(no carbenation). JOhn

Man, I miss girl scout cookies - they seem to be on EVERY corner this year!!! I'm still on mostly soft foods - yogurt, sf pudding, applesauce, soft cheese, scrambled eggs but I am able to eat a very limited amount of pre-cooked chicken - very slowly and very well chewed. I have had some crackers with cheese and nuts - the only thing I have gotten sick on is peanut butter. I guess it is too heavy. I am addicted to sf popsicles - one of the best ways for me to get in my fluid. I'm not pureeing anything, just chewing until it is mush. When I saw the doc 2 weeks ago I was down 22 pounds and I know I am down some more - I see him again this week. The info from my doc/dietician says no raw veggies for 6 weeks to 3 months - good luck with your choices - it only takes once for me to learn not to eat certain things. take care Pat

Wow... you guys are brave! The way my plan says to go, I can't have beef or pork for 6 months! I'm DYING for a cheeseburger, but I absolutely refuse to cheat on this. I want to get this weight off as soon as possible. Right now, I'm allowed nothing heavier than mashed potatoes, scrambled eggs, saltines, graham crackers and peanut butter. Next week I get to add tuna/chicken salad (low fat mayo) and shaved deli chicken and turkey. I can't have raw veggies for 8 weeks, no bread until 5 weeks (toasted) or 8 weeks (non toasted). It kinda freaks me out that you all are eating all this stuff already and still losing weight. I wish I dare try it, because, like I said, I'd give almost anything for a cheeseburger (even without the bun)! Well.... I know I'll get there soon enough, just wanted to express my amazement over all these posts. I'm glad to hear that it is working for you all and that you're not having ill effects. Keep up the good work!
