if something is wrong (leakage or overstretching) how will I know?
I am concerned and hoping to find someone who can help me. I am worried that I will have a leak and will not know it, until it is too late. Has anyone had this problem, and if so can you explain what to look for?. The other thing that I am concerned about is overstretching or rupture of the suture line. How do I know if this has happened. I have noticed that I can take in more than 4 oz and not get sick. I think I start feeling full at around 5-6oz and that is when I quit. I just wait for the full feeling. The way I know this is because in about 10-15 minutes time I can drink 6oz of my protein shake. I have absolutely no pain, except when I have eaten something and didn't chew it well enough. It eventually goes down, but it can be very painful. I am new to this site and I am hoping that someone can give me a little insight. Thanks to all of you!!!!
Angie,
My surgeon told me that a leak would usually be accompanied by a fever of 101 or more. He said that if I had this to call the hospital and have them page him and they would bring me in to check. No problems so far! You would also probably start feeling very sick if you had a leak as well.
As for the rest, I find that liquids go down much quicker and I can tolerate more than more dense foods. I think you will find that eating more dense foods (tuna, chicken, etc.) will give you more of that full feeling. Sounds like you're doing well so far! Hang in there!

i know i can drink a protien drink pretty quickly...water, i can almost like down, of course not like i could pre op, but if i have my purred foods i feel full with only 2-3 oz. so i think your doing fine, it sounds like your doctor made your pouch a lil bigger than mine, and or you had your surgery before me :D
