2 weeks post op
well i made it through the surgery, but i had some complications. i lost alot of blood so i had 2 bags of blood pumped into me. then i was low on oxygen so i was on oxygen while in the hospital and at home. then i had an allergic reaction to percocet(that caused the oxygen problem)so i was without pain meds for a weekend. then i got cellusitus in one of my incisions so now i am on antbiotics 4 times a day and i have demerol for pain. so beside all that i am eating good, no dumping yet. i am on soft foods now. i feel alot better today then i did. i had regrets after the surgery, but not now. i am down 20 lbs already.
Kari, sorry to hear about the problems you had after surgery. Hope you are feeling better.
I had surgery on the 21st and I can hardly stand food. I am having to make myself eat 3 times a day and most of the time I cannot eat more than 1/2 ounce at a time.
Are you able to get in your water, I try but most days I can only drink about 30 ounces, it makes to me full and I don't want to stretch my pouch with water.

Hi Kari & Dana,
I had Lap RNY on Feb 22nd. No complications or side effects. Kari, I am so sorry that you had all those problems, but it sounds like you have a great attitude about it.
Dana,
My doctor's office said you cannot stretch your pouch with water. Also if you try and get in the water, then hopefully your skin will have more elasticity and therefore less sagging. I found that if I sip on water or a protein drink all day, then it's easy to get in the 64 ozs. I too have to make myself eat. I am just not hungry. My doctor is conservative and I have to stay on a full liquid diet for 4 weeks, then soft foods for 3 weeks, then to the lifetime eating plan. He feels that this way you give your body time to heal before putting in foods that are harder to digest. Makes sense to me. I'm also finding that the foods I am craving or can't wait to have are foods that are healthy. Such as fish, shrimp, and bananas. Who would have thought?

Kari:
I am sorry that you had so many complications...but your attitude is wonderful that you are still happy that you had the surgery.
I had surgery on Feb 23, and I started puree tonight. I had 2 oz of cottage cheese and I feel like my stomach is going to explode. I have been drinking 60-80 oz the past few days, because my face was dry. I don't want to get old and wrinkly looking from the surgery.
I will be on puree for 6 weeks, and then I graduate to soft foods. I am not physically hungry at all. I just have mental hunger a little, because my family is not dieting and it's food food food all the time.
