My doc gave us a manual to follow. And I'm suppose to be on a pureed diet until the 28th day after surgery. But when I read everyone elses stuff they are already onto toast and more solid foods. Is it differant because I had the micro-pouch? or is it just differant for each doc? And it also said no meat!

Hi Heather, I think it's different docs. The doctors at MMPC have us go on a 2 week diet prior to the surgery to shrink our liver because they do mostly lap RNY's. I was on Carnation Instant Breakfast because I couldn't tolerate the stuff they wanted us on. I have noticed a lot of people on here do not go on a liquid diet until 2-3 days prior to surgery. I was on a liquid diet 2 weeks after surgery. After two weeks we started things like pudding, cream soups, mashed potatoes, etc. Being that I am four weeks out, I can now have cheeses, eggs, thinly sliced meats. There have been some that have posted on here that could have anything they wanted right after surgery. I don't know how they could handle it. I have trouble with what I am allowed to have. Good Luck on your journey Chris

It's different for each doc. I would follow your doc's orders and just use other people's progress as an example of other methods. Still, I progressed with my foods a little faster than some of my doc's patients, but it was about what I could tolerate. If you are concerned, give the dr. a call and ask him about some of the things that you'd like to do or eat. Cara W.

It's different surgeries, too. I had the DS and am allowed to eat whatever I can tolerate. There are differences even between DS docs, so imagine all the different post-op plans there are for all of us. Jeanie
