3 WKS OUT, NEW PAIN-OUCH!!!!!
I have not been the best at remembering to take the Pepcid twice daily this past week, so I am afraid I have caused some sort of ulcer or something.
Saturday I noticed I was swollen more than I had been on the left, and more tender too. Walking caused my abdomen to ache when it jiggled, I was holding my belly more than I had in awhile.
Sunday, anything I took in caused pain. Even tiny sips of warm water caused pain 20-30 seconds later. The pain is dull-stabbing. It lasts 5-10 minutes after a drink of water, and alot longer with food.
Maalox Max helps, and I plan to do just liquids today to let the pouch rest.
I ate refried beans with sour cream a few times last week. Somehow in my mind I thought I could advance to that last week, and days later I re-read my diet sheet and discovered I wasn't to do that until tomorrow- I didn't have any pain with them, could it have hurt something?
If this is a common healing thing I don't want to bother the Dr, has anyone else had this?
Deb
Hi Deb,
I am two weeks and 3 days out. I have also been having alot of pain the past coulple of days on my left side (stabbing and burning pains). And I have a hump on my left side too. I haven't had any pain while drinking anything so I can't give you any feed back on that aspect of things. I have been having alot of back pain on my left side though. I think it is just from not being able to lay down properly or just moving in the normal way. It is still hard for me to bend down and pick things up. I went for my first post-op visit with the surgoen four days ago and he said that the "hump" and pain on the left side is normal....he said just to take it easy (maybe I'm doing too much too soon). I hope this helps you.

I went to the surgeons on Thursday for my two week check up. I started having pain whenever I ate or drank anything. ( like 5-10 seconds later) My surgeon put me on pepto bismol 8 times a day and nexium 2 times a day. He said the zantac that they prescribed for me post op was not strong enough and that I probably have an ulcer.
I advise you to contact the surgeon today!
As soon as you get more meds you'll feel better.
