Discouraged

I'm two weeks out from surgery today and am feeling doomed to fail again. I know some of you will think I am irrational and premature, but this is always the way it works for me. A little weight loss on any diet and then it just stops after a week or two...no matter how little I eat. This is where I am now. I lost 10 pounds the first week and now nothing this week. And, of course, I am so broke that I won't be able to get a fill for at least six months. I'm just bummed. I had hoped for a bit more than 10 pounds, and I am sure I will gain it back and then some as soon as I can eat more normal food.

Believe me I know how you feel. I haven't lost anything in about 5 days. Every time I take a bite of pureed turkey or tuna I gag the worst part is when I get on the scale and it hasn't gone down. It just makes the food taste worse if you know what I mean. I've been doing mall walking but that doesn't seem to help. I've heard many people say they hit plateaus around this time because so much weight comes off the first week. Let's hope so Maura

ya, everything tases like ... well you know. I am so sick of smelling everyone else's lunch (Coconut Chicken curry was esp. hard today - one of my favorites) and then eating cottage cheese and jello. I just threw it out after a few bites since I knew it was a waste of time to eat it - made me want to puke. And all this for what? Nothing.

Hi guys, I think you are being to hard on yourselves. You have just had major surgery and your body doesn't even know which way is up. I would suggest not weighing yourself except for once a week, if that. Just stick to your dr. diet and it will come off. I am only 3 weeks out but have read enough posts on this sight to believe that the surgery will work over time, so long as I stick to my dr. plan. Focus on eating right, getting all your protein, water, and vitamins and not on how much weight you have lost. I put my scale in a box in the closet so that I would not be tempted to weigh everyday. Good Luck and don't be discouraged. Remember it's going to take time, even with wls. Mary M.

I totally know how you are feeling I have been freaking out because the scale hasnt been moving this past week! I have tried all these diets and I always lose at first and then I dont lose anything. It is scary - i try not to worry about it to much but it is hard

Hey, I am doing the same thing. I am 3 weeks out today and was losing very well at first - over 22 pounds. Then, from last Tuesday until today - NOTHING. I am just hanging in there. I am doing what my doctor says to do and I am drinking over 64 oz of water, etc, and trying my best. I do think it will start coming off again. I go to Dr DeWitt on Thursday and I am eager to see how much I weigh now in comparison to what I weighed the last time in his office. We WILL make it and lose weight!! Carol L

Hi I'm 4 weeks out! Total lost is 20 lbs. I lost 18 in the first two weeks and in the last two weeks I lost a total of 2 lbs. This is normal. it should take a year to lose 100 lbs. which is 2 lbs per week. Ya some lose more. But this surgery is a long haul healthy weight loss. Keep up the good work. Daisy
