9 days post op Lap RNY. I have had almost no pain, which has been awesome and am able to keep down my clear liquids and protein drink. I was in the hospital 3 days and then had to stick around San Diego 3 days. Since I've been home the last 2 days, I have been so tired and sleepy! Slept 11 hours last night and could still head right back for a nap. I'm forcing myself to concentrate to walk and drink and eat. But I just have no energy for anything much beyond those basics. On Tuesday I started B-12 and multivitamins, so maybe they will help soon. Any ideas? Brian

I was super tired for the first 10-12 days. Things are getting better, but it is still hard to make it through the day without a nap. Just take it one day at a time. My dr. said it's important to push yourself a little, but not too much. The energy gets better the more you eat a balanced diet and get out and about. Best wishes, Cara W.

Brian, everyone is different. I was really up for the first two weeks after surgery and even got out of the hospital after a little more than one day, however week 3 I felt totally like I had hit the wall. This went on for about a week and then magically I had energy again. My program director said that the 6 week mark makes a huge difference. You should try to do some walking every day as this will speed the process. You will come out of this. Remember you have had your insides rearranged and they need some TLC. Pat

I had my surgery 2 weeks ago, and have also started feeling tired lately. The first week I was tired, and took naps, because I knew I was recently post-op. But now I think I should be doing more and not be as tired. I have to keep reminding myself that it has only been 2 weeks since I had MAJOR surgery, and that it is okay to sleep more, as long as I get up and get some exercise in between! (And drink my water). Give yourself some time to heal. Even if you are feeling little pain and your external wounds are healing, you are still healing big time inside. Cris

Hi Brian, I know how you feel. I was so tired for a good 2 weeks after surgery. Then I started taking my B12 and by the time 3 weeks came around I was feeling better. I still get tired, but not like the first 2 weeks. I had my surgery in San Diego also. Who was your surgeon and at what hospital? Good Luck, Mary M.

Me. Had my band put on 2/22 so that's almost 2 weeks. The pain, the food everything seems to be as normal as I had expected. I'm losing which makes me happy but boy I just can't shake being tired. Since I live in Ohio and the weather has been snowing or horribly cold I had taken to being a "walker" at a nearby mall pre-op. The idea only has made me tired since returning from surgery. I am determined however, to start back at the mall on Monday. I don't care if I can only do one lap but I've got to start getting in some exercise and I know that this will help me shake off the blahs. If not at least I'll have a reason for being tired. Good Luck, it's nice to know we're all pretty normal at this stage. Maryanne 2/22/05 336/308/150
