I'm home! 3 days post op
Just wanted to let you know that I am back home as of yesterday from having Lap RNY on Thursday, Feb 24.
I am doing fairly well since the surgery. I can be honest with you all that the first 12 hours I wasn't sure what I did to myself. But after they regulated my pain medication, it was smoother sailing. My the day of discharge I was ready to go home and get a shower and sleep in my own lazyboy chair.
The only thing I was not quite prepared for was the tremendous gas you have the few days afterwards!! YIKES! It is getting better with time too.
I have been able to keep down my liquids just fine and through all of your help, have found a few more splenda items to make the transition easier.
I plan on getting my exercise program started tomorrow at the mall, once the kids are at school (God willing with the snow storm they are calling for in our area tonight and tomorrow).
Good Luck to all you preop's, the hospital time goes quickly. I have my first post op appointment in one week. Upon return home, I had not gained or lost during my hospitalization, but today I have lost three pounds already! Yeah. I have more belly swelling to get rid of, so am sure that number will increase too!@ Yeah, to be on the losing side of life! It feels so great being a loser!

Diana,
I'm so gald to hear your doing fairly well considering your short recovery time! I'm scheduled tomorrow 10am OR start time. Maybe with all that gas you could blow the storm off the coast so it will be safe traveling for us in NJ!!!LOL I hope I didn't offend you but I thought we all could use a lil humor. Take care and I will talk to you soon!
Diana,
Well, it's been 1 week since surgery and since my consult on 2-4-05 I have lost 28 lbs......yeah for me! Yes, surgery went on as planned without a hitch except for the fact that the anesthesia made me so sick (nausea and vomiting!) I wish for someone to either put me out or as my mom says, "teleport me home" from the hospital! I made it home with 2 scores in the bucket and zero misses! That lasted until Thursday when my Dr gave me some nausea medication.. So, now I'm feeling almost like myself again with the exception of some port discomfort. My post-op visit is Weds 2/8....How are you doing? Mel
Diana,
Welcome home. I am glad you are doing so great. I walked like a hunchback for days and wouldn't think of leaving the house until this weekend. My exercise that first week was nothing but walking around the first floor of my house... even steps were a killer. Goes to show that everyone is different!! Continued success to you.
Hugs,
Kelly
