Hello, February surgery sweethearts!
I had LAP RNY on Feb. 16th. I'm doing great, tolerating liquids well and have lost about 20 pounds in 2 weeks. I don't go back to my doctor in Seattle until 3/17 so that will be my official weigh in. I still go to my local TOPS group for support so I use their scale. I have had absolutely no complications, my energy level is much better than pre-surgery, and no problems with gas of foods. The only thing that I have noticed is a heightened sense of smell. AND I feel like I smell! When I ask chosen people they claim I do not smell. I kind of smell a musty, rank, kind of funky smell. I'm clean and my clothes are clean! I think it's probably ketosis. . . I'm not getting enough protein or water in yet but doing better daily. I'll start protein drinks tomorrow and I need to start tracking on Fit Day. Not crazy about my chewable vitamins. They are huge and chalky but I'm getting used to them. Found a wonderful little "pill crusher" at the local $1.00 store. It works great. I've been postponing exercise. I went for a short walk yesterday, but I feel fine so I need to make that a priority. Best wishes to all. Isn't it nice to arrive at the beginning of spring with a "rebirth" of our own. Spring is my favorite season. My birthday is March 7. Every year for many years I've made resolutions to be thinner and healthier by my next birthday. This year it happens! I was a self pay, but already no regrets and glad that I made this decision. I'll check in more often. I'm a regular on the OFF (over fifty forum). I'll be 56 on 3/7. I want to stay in touch with those of you going through the same issues I am. Have a great weekend, Karen
