How quickly did you start to lose weight? Today is Friday, I had my surgery on Monday, and was shocked to see this morning that I've GAINED five pounds since Monday. How is this possible? All I've eaten is some broth and no sugar jello, and this morning a bit of yoghurt. I'm a little sore and bloated.

You most definitely are still holding on to TONS of fluids. I talked to the Dr today, and he said I'm still holding on to fluids 10 days after surgery. My friend gained 17 lbs after surgery, only to be down all that plus 8 lbs in a week. Just give it time, follow your instructions, and don't weight your self for several more days. Oh, and sip, sip, sip your water!! Best wishes, Cara W.

Lynne, I've also heard that there is a lot swelling. I'm sure that's what it is. Don't get discouraged. I'm having a tough time with gas also. I'm following doctor's orders as far as the time line of each phase of diet, but I am having trouble with the pureed phase (creamy soup, ect.) maybe to soon for me, I started feeling like something was stuck in my sternum. So, I am going back to full liquids. Keep in touch. Hope you're feeling ok soon. Tamara D.

You are probably retaining water. Make sure you are getting your fluids in and taking your walks. Both will help with bloating. Good Luck, Mary M.
