Well my surgery was performed on the 15th. Everything went well. I came home that Friday. I had diarhea starting on Thursday and ending on Sunday. The gas has been horribly painful. Until the past couple of days I've had no problems getting my protein or fluids in. Then my doctor prescribed a new pain med for me on Monday and it made me nauseaus and unable to eat. Today he changed it again and I have resumed eating. My walking has gotten better, but a 5 minute walk requires about a 2hr. nap afterwards. So how are you doing?

My napping has really gotten in the way of my eating. I've had a hard time getting enough meals in--the dietician wants me to do 3 meals and two protein snacks. I'm feeling better, but still in a lot of pain. I go to see the dr. tomorrow, so I'm looking forward to hearing what he has to say about my progress. I hope you are all doing well! Cara W.

Well, I had open surgery on the 15th and came home that Friday. I did have the diarrhea for a few days - miserable! And the gas as well. But both are sort of a distant memory now. I'm having some trouble with the protein drinks. I'm on full liquids for another two weeks, but I've been having more protein-filled soup (with beans and chicken, for example) than protein shakes because they're just not sitting well. I haven't had trouble with anything going down, though, which I chalk to fast healing from a young body! Lol. Today the scale was hovering around 22 pounds down, which is encouraging. I think I can tell...a little. But then again, I'm still 324 pounds - so I've got some room for movement, obviously! I need to push the water and the walking. I've never liked walking for exercise. I'm more of an extreme sports kind of girl, so I'll be glad when I'm cleared for boxing and biking again. In the meantime, I'm going to start walking on the treadmill this Sunday. I still nap some, but I'm weaned off my pain medicine. Just trying to build my stamina back up because I go back to work/graduate school next Thursday! Hope everyone else is doing well.

I am doing fine. I have had no pain and no nausea. I will be so glad when I can add soft meat. It's hard on the soft foods - mashed potatoes, pintos and cheese from Taco Bell, oatmeal....I dont care for the protein drinks, but usually drink at least one a day to get that protein in. I am walking. I dont nap during the day, but sleep great at night. No problems with fluids. I am so afraid of getting dehydrated that I really push them! Much success to all the other 2/15'ers!! Hey there 2/15 er's ! I had a lap rny done and before I left the hospital had my drain and packing removed. Gas was alittle bit of an issue but I started walking immediately. Alittle at a time but my walk is slowly increasing. The gas is not much of an issue now. I stopped all pain medication after the first night. It tasted sooo sweet I'd rather deal with the discomfort. Friday I went for my one week check up and am down 20lbs! I am actually starting to feel my jaw bone! Since the day of surgery I have been off all my meds: 3 b/p pills, cholesterol pill, and my diabetic med! My b/p is 130/78 and my blood suger is 117! God has been good to me, for sure! I have little bursts of energy but generally I still feel weak. MY doctor wants his patients on a thinned pureed diet for the first 4 weeks. I can only manage 2 protein shakes a day, chicken broth, decaff tea and a good amount of fluids. I have no nausea or trouble but for now I feel so full! I guess the shakes feel heavy because of that. I could be eating more on this diet but for now it's all I can handle. The doc said I'm doing terrific but I wish I felt aliitle stronger, but I know in time I will. I have to go at my body's pace! Good luck to all my brother and sister's out there. PLEASE let all of th 2/15er's keep in touch and give support to each other. Sandy
