GOT TO LOSE WEIGHT ASAP!!
Help friends! I went to the doctor for my pre-op for my surgery on the 24th and gained 17 pounds in 2 months! Can you believe it!!! He told me to get on a diet and lose between 7 to 10 pounds by the 24th or he will not do the surgery! He said that my liver is "too fat" and would make surgery very hard. HELP!! Does anyone have any ideas on hoe to lose that weight so fast? I went and bought protein shakes and have been doing that and eating fruit but I dont' know if that will do it or not! HELP ME ANYONE!!! Please let me know! Thank you and GOD BLESS!
Hey, Christina. Eat high protein (meat - grilled chicken, grilled fish, steak, etc) and low carbs. That means your "water" vegetables like green beans, salads, broccoli, brussell sprouts) I wouldn't eat the fruit. It is actually high in carbs! Use a low fat Italian salad dressing for your salad. I was on this for a week before surgery (per my doctor) and I lost several pounds. It is like Atkins and you can lose quick on that. Carol L
I had surgery on Feb 3. Mine was a Lap RNY. For 2 weeks pre op my surgeon requires a clear liquid diet - the sole purpose is to help shrink your liver down to make surgery technically easier for him, and in return for me. As a result of the clear liquid diet, I lost about 10 pounds. "foods" allowed on this clear liquid diet were sugar free jell-o, with 8 oz of regular jello per day, broth, sf popsicles, with 2 regular ones allowed daily. Water, crystal light, other sugar free liquids. If you are interested, let me know, I will provide you the full list. J.
I also had to lose 9 pounds before surgery. What did it for me was protien shake for breakfast, snack of 2 oz yogurt mixed with 1 tsp protiein powder, lunch was ww meal or lean cusine, small protien snack like jerky or nuts, dinner was another protien shake or ww/lc meal. I lost the 9 pounds I needed for surgery. It was all about portion control for me. I even ended up with one less incision because they said my liver didn't need to get moved due to its size. I never felt starved during the quick diet. Good luck!!! You can do it, just think positive.
