Pre-op tests

Well, my PCP yesterday cleared me for surgery (she did not do any blood tests as my surgeon had done them in January when I had my consult, needless to say, she did not read them either!). I received a letter from my surgeon today that my sodium level is low (133), Glucose is high (130) and my Globulin is 3.8. All of these are just barely off, but I now have to go see my PCP on Monday to get the blood test. Now, mind you, this would be no big deal, but at this rate, my detuctable from my insurance will be paid quickly! lol... Does anyone have any good ideas about raising my sodium level? All of my liver and kidney tests were normal, and I am not on any medication right now, so that rules those two out. Oh yeah, my thyriod is okay too. I may be a little dehydrated. Would gatorade or powerade help get it up before Monday? I don't want this to keep me from having surgery!!! Thanks for any help! Pat Dr. Crystal Schlosser 10 days and counting!

Drink a lot of water, eat saltier protiens like tuna, liver sausage, etc. and you should be fine. Leave the carbs alone so your blood sugars will be in line. Eat some chicken boullion too.
