I am now a Post-Oper! Yeah!
I cant believe I am home again. I had my surgery on Feb 7th at 730am.
Day #1 was a blur, I was very grogy and my month was very dry. I was able to have a moisten sponge to keep me happy but not more than that. I slept alot and my chest was sore as was the top of my abdomen.
Day #2 I woke up still abit sore, I could now have ice chips and it was wonderful. I passed the GI screening to check for leaks, and then was able to have a clear liquid diet. Hot tea, SF Jello, Broth. I also started walking first 1 lap, next time 2 laps. I eventually worked myself up to 3 laps every couple of hours. the sooner you start moving the better you feel and the sooner you can go home. I still took alot of naps throughout the day.
Day #3 My surgeon had some cases today and said he would be by that afternoon. I was now on a soft diet SF pudding, cream soup, applesause, and I was doing 3 laps every 2 hours. I felt almost normal. I got to go home that night, what a joy.
Day #4 & 5 I am feeling very good, still a little sore about the incisions, and still want to take little naps through out the day. I feel so wonderful and happy, I wish all you Pre-Opers the very best, it is so worth it.
