HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY TO ME - MY SURGERY DATE!
I am only a week ahead of you , but only spent 2 days in the hospital and am now home and getting around pretty well. I can't say I am pain free, but it is tolerable. I am more stiff and sore than actually having pain. Anyway, I am so happy I have had surgery and you will continue to be excited and nervous at the same time. Way to go! Chris
Thanks for the info Chris! Please keep in touch and let me know how things are going so I can learn from you. I have some wonderful people at work that have had the RNY and they are so supportive! It is amazing how each RNY patient encourages others that have, or are going to have, the SX! It is a journey that I am looking forward to!

Surgery date is Valentine's Day? What a wonderful gift to yourself. I'm less than 2 weeks post op and was out of the hospital in only 1 day I felt so good. It's kind of like you've done too many sit-ups and have sore muscles. You will be fine, but I will pray that all goes smoothly. It has for me. I'm walking over a mile each day and have lost 20 lbs. I feel like a snow woman...I'm melting! Good Luck!
Hi Folks! Just wanted to give you a heads up on my update!
"I am 7 days post-op, 11 pounds lighter and I am feeling GREAT! I had
the best doctors in Huntsville, Alabama...the best treatment at
Crestwood hospital and I am feeling fine. As a matter of fact I am at
work! Really I just stopped by for a book but I've been here 3 hours! I
walked 2/5's of a mile yesterday and will do the same today. I will continue until I am up to at least 3 miles a day.
The worst part of surgery for me was no water until 12 hours passed - not even ice chips. But! They did give me some of those icky glycerine swabs to moisten my tongue. But hey, with the pain meds they let me pump in, I wasn't feeling too much pain AT ALL!
I have recovered so quickly due to all of the above PLUS the prayers and
well wishes from good folks such as you! Thank you for the encouragement and support!
I felt sooo good that I cooked dinner for 9 people this past Sunday and wasn't even hungry! I cooked roast beef w/gravy, mashed potatoes, pintos w/tenderloin, mac and cheese, collards, boiled corn, deviled eggs, cole slaw and cornbread! They lapped it up and I enjoyed watching. (BTW, I wanted to cook for a wonderful family that deserved the meal - it isn't something I do everyday nor weekend. I loved doing it too as I enjoy cooking!)
Take care and please keep me up to date on your progress!
God Speed, Bev"
