I am finally Post-Op

Hi everyone! I just wanted to pop in to say that I'm home from the hospital and everything is okay. I had my surgery done on the 4th and came home from the hospital on the 8th. I'm not sore, and have had no pain meds since the day after my surgery. I've never had kids and usually have a really low tolerance for pain, so this is good news for those of you that are scared of it being painful! I have tenderness in the areas where my staples are, but not pain, it is just like when you get a cut. It is sore, but doesn't require any energy to worry about it. I'm home now trying to figure out what to eat. I bought a whole butt-load of (liquid) food, but now I don't know how much or how often I should eat. This part sucks! My suggestion to you would be to make sure you ask your surgeon exactly how much and how often. I'm just scared of eating too much and hurting myself, so I'm hardly eating at all. I have only eaten a few times and try to eat as little as possible. I still feel hungry (I think) but I don't know if it is hunger pain, or just healing pain. Oh well, good luck to everyone that was/is/will be under the knife this month. Brenda

I know that my Dr. referred all of his patients to a nutritionist that gave us eating plans. My understanding is to stick with broth and sf jello, etc for 6 days, then move to pureed food. I was told no more than 2-3 ounces or a quarter cup per meal. Call your doctor if you are concerned! Cara W.
