Oh Michael, I'm so sorry to hear this bad news. Though it does sound like you have the right outlook. My suggestion is to read The South Beach Diet, and follow that eating plan. It's so much like the lifestyle you will be on after your WLS someday, and people say it's relatively easy to follow once you understand the principles. Basically it's high protein, low carb, but not a "diet". Good luck, and keep a positive attitude. Also remember there are lots of folks who, for various reasons, do not have the surgery but who still come to OH for support. It's Obesity Help, not WLS Help... Marie

Hey Michael, sorry to hear about your setback. I don't know of a diet per se, because the consensus right now is that diets don't work. I would focus on keeping down the amount of fats and empty calories, and exercise as much as you can. I started with walking 1/2 a mile, and I thought I was going to need the paramedics. I'm up to 2 miles a day now. Don't ever forget, the secret to weight loss is that you have to burn more calories than you take in, regardless of all the fancy diets. The diet industry in this country is a multi-billion dollar monster. There is no miracle diet. Make changes in your life, even small ones, that you can sustain long-term. The biggest challenge isn't losing it, but keeping it off. Good luck to you. Becca
