02.10.2005 is the day!
Hi there; New to this message board......been lurking around educating myself.
Anyhow; It's on! Surgery on 02.10.2005! I feel numb.....I'm not scared...yet, or overly excited....yet.???
Just reading a bariatric book I received today (Weight Loss Surgery, Finding The Thin Person Inside You) to get an idea what to expect (although I've gotten tremendous info right here on this wonderful website!)and trying to decide what to bring to the hospital and what I need to buy?
Next I have to purchase my "food" for when I get home. Broth? Jello?....any advise would be great.
Anyhow; Good luck to all!.....I'll let you know how it went in a few weeks!!

Hi, Liz. I have that book, too. It's pretty good.
For post-op, I'm going to have applesauce, cottage cheese, peanut butter, pudding, Crystal Light, and things like that. My doctor lets you eat whatever you feel like after surgery. I'll take it slow to begin with.
Good luck. We're just a couple of weeks away.
Jeanie
Hi Jeanne!
Lucky you .....you get to eat descent food! My Dr. is starting me out:
#1 lots of protein....I bought liquid protein for my crystal light.
1) 7 days "Clear Liquid"
2) 7 days "Full liquid...much like clear, only I can some dairy, Baby rice, wheat or oatmeal cereal; protein shakes; V-8 type juices; strained soups, etc.
3)Weeks 3-9: same as week 2 only some eggs, custards and my favorite...cheescake! yea! Everything pureed of course.
4) month 3 onward: "soft" to regular diet.
The Dr. is fairly strict.....It is my understanding that most people do not feel much like eating anyhow......so this VERY limited diet hopefully won't be too bad? I'll let you know!
My cousin in Florida had surgery last June and her doctors allowed her to eat real food fairly soon also. She has been doing fantastic! I think she lost over 100lb's! Went from a size 24(?) and the last I heard in December she was wearing a size 9/10!
When is your surgery? Is it also on the 10th?
Let me know how you are doing afterwards as soon as you feel up to it.
I wish you much luck to!
G-Bless! Sincerely, Liz
Hi Dionne,
I'll keep you in my prayers as well!
My surgery is scheduled for 7:30am PDT....1st one on the table! .... So you'll probably be either in surgery still or completed while I'm waiting??? What time is your surgery? What type of surgery are you having?
I'll keep all of you on the East coast (My family is from NY/New Jersey) in my thoughts and prayers while I'm "WAITING" for mine.
Hope everything goes well.....please let me know, okay?
God Bless....Liz
Hi Kim!
Thank you for your reply & kind words!
I'll be thinking of all of you as well, while I wait for my surgery to take place. Hopefully the Dr. will have pity on me and give me something to relax me as I think I will ******vous wreck....I'm not nervous YET....but I know I will be the morning of the surgery
What type of surgery are you having???
I did some shopping yesterday also! Bought a new robe & P.J's and some MORE liquid/chewable supplements.....can't have too many... Afterall we will need them for the rest of our lives
Found some great "bio-available" liquid vitamins, etc at Wild Oats Market...it is an "organic", wholefoods type market. Try to find one near you! Thier products are A-1 quality and the prices are fair....compared to some I've seen on the web!
Let me know how your surgery goes!!
God Bless,
Liz
P.S. Your mom has a great name!!! ;)
