CARA, I ASKED MY SURGEONS OFFICE TODAY AND THEY TOLD ME NOT TO BRING A NIGHTGOWN , BUT TO WEAR THE HOSPITAL GOWN BECAUSE OF THE DRAIN I WOULD HAVE IN ME. IT IS EASIER THEY SAID TO NOT HAVE ANYTHING COVERING OR RUBBING AGAINST IT AT FIRST.. ALSO I USE A CPAP MACHINE FOR SLEEP APENA AND I HAVE TO BRING MY OWN WITH ME TO THE HOSPITAL....TOOHBRUSH AND TOOTHPASTE, COMB AND HAIRSRAY, DEODRANT AND A COUPLE MAGIZINES OR A BOOK AND A ROBE PLUS EVERYTHING YOU ARE BRINGING ...EXCEPT THE TONGS...I'M NOT SURE I UNDERSTAND ABOUT THERE USE... CAN YOU EXPLAIN SOME MORE... GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS....KAREN

Well, other WLS people told me that tongs were helpful to reach places that may be hard to get to--ie. your behind. They said it can be painful or difficult to reach, so tongs are a good idea. I figure better safe than sorry. I got a 99 cent pair at Target that are heavy plastic. Cara W.

Don't forget to put them in the dishwasher after you get home.

I think these ones are destined for the trash...I'd feel guilty even giving them to Goodwill.

I'm still making my list. My big one is a backscratcher. I use mine at home quite a bit and hospital sheets and gowns are stiff and icky. I'm also taking a notepad and pen for writing notes.

Tongs!!?? How creative! LOL I already have troubles with that,...can't imagine how that will be AFTER an incision is made. Here's my list: A book. pen and notepad slippers Ankle socks Chapstick or carmex (my lips get dry during surgery) Toothpaste and toothbrush shampoo, body wash my own pillow picture of my kiddos sweatpants or my pj bottoms (will probably wear the gowns they provide for up top. lotion hair clips or ponytails to braid my hair and keep it out of the way pre-paid phone card (no cells) my husband (hehe)
