Thought I'd stop in for a quick hello. Summer went by in a blur. I had a wonderful, active, fun filled summer. However, I got out of my 3-4 day a week at the gym habit. I'm trying hard to get back with it. I'm 2 for 2 so far this week. I've gained a couple of lbs over the past month. That really scares me tho I'm trying not to panic. Need to just get back to basics and do what needs to be done. I've been "treating" myself too often. I find that I can consume more than I could 6 mos ago and I need to really watch my portions. I didn't go through this to be one of the failure statistics. I need to start visiting the graduates board too. How are the rest of you doing? hey karen...things are going pretty good here. i think a lot of us are struggling right now. i've been having problems with the carbs and we do a daily post on the grad board to try and help each other out and stay on track. i too have gained a few pounds back from treating myself too often but i'm trying to stop that...they "treats" are getting less and less...i knew i should have never let myself have a treat and get that ball rolling but i did. i have no self control when it comes to that stuff. i need to get back on track too. i'm trying the plateau buster next week to see if that helps "detox" the body and drop a couple pounds. i've stuck with the exercise but still managed to gain in the belly area. please join us on our check ins!! Hi Karen, I believe many of us from February are dealing with being able to eat larger portions and testing the waters so to speak. I've let junk back into my life too and trying hard to gain better control before it gets out of control. I play with a 5 lb weight flucuation, I'm .5 lb from reaching the limit so back to basics for me today too. Dana

hi karen: so glad you brought up this topic. i've been having a struggle with being able to eat more these days, too. my solution has been to make sure that when i do eat more it's a fresh fruit or a whole wheat multi grain something. guess i knew the day would come when i would have to control the hunger again and i figure at least this way i'm dealing with it in a healthy way, rather than the chips, ice cream, and cookies which i used to go with. i haven't found any graduate boards but i guess we qualify now, don't we? i'll have to go searching. i still hang with my state board and the bmi over 50 boards. they seem to address my situation best. and i know what you mean about now wanting to be a statistic, too. i've still got 80 lbs to go and am finding life's challenges to be more overwhelming at the moment than the 80 lbs are. not ready to give up or stop trying, just needing to catch my breath. good luck with your journey, karen. thanks again for bringing it up. dorthe

Hi Karen, good to see a post here for a change. I have been going to the grad board and Fl board most often but check here occasionally so I can check on my peers. I haven't gain any weight back and I am fearful every day since I haven't been able to exercise much at all since I had tymmy tuck/butt lift in June and breast reduction/lift 3 weeks ago. I did get on my pilates faithfully from 3 months post rny so maybe it is holding me over. I am holding at 123-125 which is way below my surgeons goal but 122 was my goal as it was my normal weight before my hormones went nuts in 2001 pushing me to 213. I find I still can't eat anymore than I was able to at 7 months out which is probably good. I still can't eat carbs, they give me awful gas pains which I never had before gastric bypass. I see my surgeon on Monday for a way past due appt...nearly 5 months past due because my plastic got in the way and since both my surgeons are in the same office, they see patients different days and I am 3 hrs away so it isn't feasible for me to get there on a Monday and again on a Wed. I am sure I will need all my blood work after I see him and let him know I had two different series of IV fusions of iron...May and Sept of which had been a problem prior to RNY but never needed fusions prior so I am sure he will be concerned. Good luck with goal, remember how far you have come and jump on that scale daily I bet it will help keep you in check, it does for me.
