Topic: What am I doing wrong!?!
Hello to all of my fellow February 2004 friends!
Congrats on our 3 year anniversaries!
I'm just over three years post op and am finding myself in a bit of a dilemma. I am the first to admit that when it comes to the 'exercise, water, protein, supplements' I fall off the exercise wagon harshly every fall, until January. Then I jump back into an exercise routine. The water, supplements and protein have never been an issue for me. Here's my dilemma: since my last doctor's appointment (which was August) I have gained about 18 pounds, which is gravely concerning. However, what's more concerning to me is that since the first of the year, I have been exercising 5-6 days a week, sometimes as much as 3 times a day (about 45 minutes each time) and the scale hasn't budged! For about the last month, I've been really monitoring my protein intake and minimizing any non-protein foods (the occasional bite of rice or some veggies). What on earth is going on? I was supposed to go back to see my surgeon on the 20th, but she had to re-schedule, so I'm not going to see her until March.
The exercise routine is getting hard to stay motivated to when I'm seeing minimal results. My body is getting 'tighter' and I feel better, but the scale is not showing any help. To add to the above issues, I'm having some concerns about 'night sweats' I've been having, I have had them occasionally over the past 6-8 months, but in the past few weeks, I've had them 4-5 times a week. I've also been having migraines over the past few months, I believe they're related to my monthly friend. Pre-surgery, I had migraines, although not with great regularity, but a few times a year that were just awful, but since surgery, I hadn't had any for over 2 years. I have an appointment to see my gynecologist tomorrow, and will definitely mention the night sweats and migraines.
I'm so confused! ANyone have any ideas for me to try? I'm really at a loss here!

Happy Anniversary to all.
For me, it has been an awesome 3 years. I truly feel that this surgery was the BEST thing I could of ever done. I'm doing things I never thought I could do. So many wonderful changes.

It's so exciting, I have been asked by Bridges to come to the Womes Expo and represent the Gastric Bypass! Loosing over 200 pounds and seeing my before and after picture they have taken intrest. I have been a success story for my surgeon and the Bridges. They also would like me to appear in a upcoming commercial and I am happy and proud to.
Just wanted to share some good news!
Wish me luck I am a little nervous..

Hi,
You came to the right place for help, I too have come here for advise and the people here are great. Yes you should be very proud of yourself and what you have lost. I also gained a few pounds back, but nobody notices in my family but I know the few pounds have arrived. I also went back to basics, I started replaceing one meal a day with protien drink and when I feel a need to nibble I drink water or Tea with sweet-N- Low or have a youghurt. I felt the weight coming off again and gained confidence.
Keep positive and relax, it will happen
Best of Luck!

Hi Foxy -- I am an anniversary buddy here and have the same surgeon. For me, I had to join Weigh****cher last March in order to stay accountable and in a good eating program. I have continued to loose this year. As hard as it has been, I have lost about 30 lbs. I am still working very hard -- well not right at this moment --- to loose another 20 lbs. It is difficult -- but I find that the core program along with counting points seems to help me. I also have to work hard at the gym to get the results I want. If I can be of any support drop me a line. What about meeting me at support group next month. The support group helps me to keep honest with myself. When was the last time you have seen Dr. Roe? Keep me posted. Lets encourage each other to a great year of healthier living.

Thanks for the encouragement Annette. I do intend to get back to basics today. I had been one of those folkes who sip alittle while eating. I use to enjoy the protein bars but finances had gotten slim for me to purchase the protein drinks and bars. Thanks be to God, things have gotten better. I will be buying the Designer Whey protein drink tomorrow and will be picking up some of the protein bars. I am eating better today. I will be taking it one day at a time. I did not have this wonderful tool in order to mess it up. Yes, you are right. Going from a 36 to a 22 is good, but I was down to a 18. I am aiming for that again. Maybe we can keep each other encouraged. You look pretty good yourself.
