Topic: Happy Anniversary Everyone!
Well its been 4 years since we all went under the knife and made drastic chages in our lives. I must say that it has been a wonderfull thing for me, I have lost and kept off 180lbs and have never felt better, I have confidence like I never had when I was bigger and things seem to be coming my way. I recently got a great job and life seems to be on the up and up. How is everyone else doing? I know we all get the anniversary reminder email so post and say Hi, let us all know how you are doing.. This board needs to liven up a little! Hope some of you respond to this, just to say Hi.. I miss all you guys!

Topic: Help...please, I need to find a doctor and support in ocean county NJ, I am completly out of control
Its been so long since I've been on this website I don't even know where to begin. I hade my surgery 3 1/2 years ago and I am almost back to the weight before my surgery. I dont blame anything or anyone but me for where I am, but I am so consumed with what i've done I dont know where to start. My doctor and I have both moved very far away from each other. I tried to find doctors closer to me, most would not even see me because they did not perform the surgery. When I did find a doctor, he takes no insurance FOR ANYTHING. I know some things are not covered but I cant afford it ALL. I have Empire Blue Cross insurance. I dont have the strength to pursue all the phone calls and hours of research to find someone in my area or find out that there is no one-but I need someone and more than anything a support group. As I type this the tears are rolling down my face and i am filled with shame. My eating is completely out of control. The comfort eating is in full swing and I have to do something but i feel very out of control. The last time I went for a fill my doctor could see that I was forcing food and stretching my esophagus. If there is anyone in the Ocean County area of New Jersey, I live in Brick, Please respond to this post or email me at [email protected] with any info on doctors or support groups in my area. thanks-Trudy

Not everyone "dumps" from overeating and some people don't even end up feeling any pain... I think the first thing to find out if you are having any excess capacity issues would be to revisit your original gastric bypass surgeon and talk to him/her. More and more practitioners are starting "back on track" type programs to help get patients re-started... and some do "tests" such as either using a quick endoscope or using the 'cottage cheese' test to see how much you can eat in a short period of time. You can find out more information about stomaphyx at www (dot) stomaphyx (dot) com - I don't think we're supposed to put website links up, so I spelled it out. If I remember right I think there's a doctor in Long Island Dr Shawn Garber that does it, beyond that, you may need to check the above website and go under "find a physician". Best of luck to you & happy holidays - ...Nick

Nick , Thank you for your support and advice. It was so kind of you to take time from your busy day My question is about a procedure you refered to as "Stomphyx ." Where can I find more information on this procedure. Iam afraid I have streched my Pouch to its original size, since I can consume very large amounts of food without negative consequences. Starting over will be hard, yet I'am willing to do it again. Thank you, A Boyd

Rubyab- Just like any other addiction, this is one that is very hard to break; the only thing you can do is to try to "start over again" and work the 'tool' that we still have, even though we won't get the same results we once had. Remember that the pouch is still there, even if it might not be as small as it once was. Starting over is possible at any point in time, it's just a matter of taking longer to see some of the results; unless you honeslty and truly have stretched the pouch, which is highly unlikely... If that was the case, there are a few procedures mentioned such as stomaphyx that may or may not help, but (unfortunately) which may not be covered by any insurance. Start over again, don't beat yourself up over past failures, because most of us have the same problem from time to time. Hang in there and a happy holiday season - sorry it took so long to get back to you; there's been so little activity here I haven't checked back very often. ...Nick

RNY Feb.2004,here in Abilene,Tx.. Lost 98 pounds from 399,then on year 2 started to ignore the pouch rules, eating all the time and pushing the limits on how much to put into my pouch. I have gained and my physical health is suffering ,not to mention feeling like a failure. I need prayer and support. Wonder if the start over program would work for me since 3 yrs out? New to posting please dont blast me for "not doing it right" rubyab

Wow, I didn't realize how long it had been since I've been here! I'm still doing well. Training for the full marathon this time around. Walked the half last year with my mom and sister. What a cool event to do with family! My weight has remained stable for a vey long time. In fact, I haven't had the need to buy jeans in nearly 3 years. I've changed jobs once and got laid off recently, so most of my time is spent trying to find work that pays what I'm used to. Kinda tough up here in Montana, but I'm still looking (husband really doesn't want to leave the state if he doesn't absolutely have to). Nice to hear from you all! Linn

Hello! I'm here sporadically, I try to pop in once every so often to see who's around and what's up. I've been finding I need a bit more support of late, so I've been on the website in general more frequently. I hope everyone's doing well! Take care! michelle

Yeah, im here... I check in about once a week. This place has been very quiet. Seems to be getting quieter every week. Im doing well weight wise, have gained 10lbs since I lost it all, Im not worried about it.. yet, I do watch it though, I still stand on the scale every day. try to keep myself in check, its hard though. I have to work to keep the weight off and it comes back so easily.. Anyway, I just wanted to say Hi! xoxox Lee
