Hi Rachel - My doctor placed me on the Nuva Ring, and I absolutely love it. When I was on BC pills, I had a history of mood swings and spotty bleeding. Since using the Nuva Ring, my emotions have stabilized and I only have 3 periods a year. Hooray! ~Lynn

I should be completing a client presentation for tomorrow, but this seemed to be SOOO much more fun. (Nothing like a little procrastination.)I tend to lurk a lot, but I want to answer this one... How many times have you written 2005? Not many... mostly typed it. What 1 thing did you accomplish in 2004 that you never thought would happen? I've lost 127 pounds, I fit in airplane seats and I feel great! I've regained my confidence. (And my husband now chases me around the house to get a little somethin'-somethin' LOL) What is the last movie you saw in the theater? I haven't seen a movie in the theatre in a while (we mostly rent DVDs), but I did see the musical "Mamma Mia!" and I was thrilled that I fit in the seat! What 1 thing do you hope to accomplish in 2005? Lose about 28 more pounds and (maybe) get pregnant! What size clothing were you wearing this time last year? Tight 28/26 What size clothing are you now wearing? Size 12 or 14, depending on the clothing manufacturer. Describe your hair loss during the past year. I lost a lot of hair at about month 5 to about month 7. Describe your hair now. I started taking Biotin, and now my hair is back to its wild ways. Have you updated your profile during the last year on OH? Barely... I have been pretty bad about updating my profile. I've been so busy... Have you read other profiles of Feb. 2004 brothers and sisters? Yes, I love reading about your successes. Whose can you identify with? Nearly everyone's. Take care! ~Lynn 295/168/140 (goal!)

Wanda, I had a piece of pumpkin cheesecake last week and although I didn't dump, my tummy still hurts from it when I eat sugar of any kind. Gotta love those little reminders! Linn

I think you're probably right; it's just interesting to see how differently everyone calculates. You've been good inspiration for me and you'll be glad to know that I've been to the gym twice in the past 4 days (I know..I know, but you've got to start somewhere). I'm doing 20 minutes on an elliptical trainer followed by a 30 minute work out on a couple of the Nautilus machines. My goal this year is to keep it up. I don't see any marathons on the horizon, but it's alot better than doing nothing. Thanks for the encouragment. Julie

Topic: Just what I needed.
I know this sounds crazy, but I dumped last night and it was just what I needed. I ate a hand full of bite size Tootsie Rolls at about 8:30 last night, mindelessly while watching tv. I'm really glad it upset my system....I'll think twice next time I eye those Tootsie Rolls! Its been so long since anything has bothered me. This was a good reminder that I need to be more careful! Anybody else had any reminders here lately?

Julie, I also have a hard time with these. Was your test done with calipers? If it was, then my guess would be that the excess skin we have is added to the fat thereby increasing the appearance of more body fat. I did buy one of the scales that do the bioimpedence method last night and it said that I'm about 30% body fat. I wasn't very happy with that number, but it also states right in the booklet that it's not so accurate for athletes or people with a lot of muscle mass, which category I think I fall into. I think that even though 30% is a little high, it's close enough to normal or healthy that it's not worth the energy to fret over. These things also have a 3-6% error in them, which is a lot. Today I decided I wasn't going to worry about it anymore since my BMI is so close to normal that it really doesn't matter. My activity level will determine where the scale ends up, and if it stays right where it's at, I've still had a successful journey. You have also had a successful journey, so I don't think we need to worry about this anymore. We are much smaller than we were when we started out and wearing what most people would consider about average/normal/small clothing sizes. At this point, I'm more concerned with fitness than with what the scale says. If I were you, Julie, what I would worry about is what you want to get out of your exercise program. If you are faithful to any program, you will see results. They may not be noticed on the scale, but you will notice the progression of how much more/faster/heavier you can do this week than last, and I think that's what it's all about. What do you think? I don't have much time to do more than lurk right now but had to answer this one Still no new pi****ep sending and keep getting a reply saying i need to send it as a jpeg...i thought i was.....LOL! How many times have you written 2005? A lot...i write the date alllll day long. What 1 thing did you accomplish in 2004 that you never thought would happen? I have lost 144 pounds as of this week and had the guts to apply for a new/better position I am really interested in.... What is the last movie you saw in the theater? Spanglish two weeks ago. What 1 thing do you hope to accomplish in 2005? Lose about 15 more pounds, get this new job, and find Mr. Right!!! What size clothing were you wearing this time last year? 26/28 What size clothing are you now wearing? size 10 jeans, 8 dress pants, and small but mostly medium tops. Describe your hair loss during the past year. I actually lost very little hair overall. I know I lost some because i would see it in the drain but not enough to notice. I started taking Biotin about 3 month prior to surgery and still take it daily. I don't have a clue if that helped me or not but whatever worked I will take it. Describe your hair now. I have very fine hair and it actually seems a little thicker now. With the little sprigs in the front so i know i have new growth.. Have you updated your profile during the last year n OH? I have updated but not as regularly as I should. Nothing new there for quite sometime. Have you read other profiles of Feb. 2004 brothers and sisters? Yes, I read them all the first several months. Whose can you identify with? All of them. Kelly 301/156/140

Topic: Bod Fat Calculations Confusing
Last night at the YMCA I had a body fat compostion done and it came up 48.8% fat which I thought was very high. Today, I've done a search on line for body fat calculators and you wouldn't believe how widely the calculations vary. I've listed some below. Does anyone know the "right" way to calculate body fat percentage without going somewhere to have a water displacement test? Web site 1: (based on height/weight only) 32.8% body fat Web site 2: (based on waist size/weight only) 9.2% Web site 3 (YMCA): (based on waist size/height only) 23.62% Web site 4 (based on height, abdominal, thigh, calf measurements and sedentary activity) 29.2% Web site 5 (US Navy Circumference method) (based on height, hip, waist and neck measurements) 26% Web site 6 (based on height, abdomen and hip measurements) 30.19% Now you know why I'm confused. Please help. Julie
