Rusty, I hope you get things undercontrol and you feel better soon. I know about IBS my mom had it really bad and my sister has it. Taking all those meds is fustrating and annoying, but hopefully you won't have to take them long. Your picture looks great you look like a different person way to go! Keep your chin up, Jill

Topic: RE: I FEEL LIKE A FAILURE
Hey, Joanne! Snap out of it! Since when is losing 80 pounds a failure? Since when is it ok to compare people who are totally different in hundreds of ways? We are ALL pre-wired to be fat, thin, blonde, short, tall, lactose intolerant, stubborn and to hold on to fat. I think a lot of us here at some point or another felt as though we have failed. I have not. I refuse to. I will not let the fat win. I have read a lot of what you have written on this board. I have also read all of the encouraging words that our brothers and sisters have written in their support of you. Do you feel the love? Do you feel the compassion and empathy? You should. There is only so much the written word can do. Your feelings are real and you should talk to someone about your thoughts. Count your blessings, not your failures. Did I lose 100 pounds easily? Yes. Do I have another 50+ to go? Yes. Do I still weigh over 200 pounds? YES! Do I love myself? ABSOLUTELY! Good luck! Denise

Topic: IBS Anyone?
Almost a year post-op, people! Can you believe it? I spent the first 5 months post-op trying to deal with and have the surgeon figure out whatever was causing me such pain when I ate. Cottage cheese and liquids got pretty tiresome. Finally I gave up on him. He told me it couldn't possibly be my old nemesis, IBS, each time I suggested it. So I went to the gastroenterologist I'd seen off and on for years for ulcers and IBS. Guess what? My IBS was going nuts from the stress of the surgery. So I started taking Zelnorm, which helped for a while. Then it started in again, Zelnorm twice a day and Levsin 4 times a day. Benefiber 2 Tbsp twice a day and Miralax once a day were added. Then, when it exacerbated itself again, Nexium 40 mg twice a day was added. Things went along fine for a few weeks, then Zantac was ordered at night. Yesterday, they added Librax four times a day! I'm a walking drug store! I was just having pain late in the afternoons and evenings. Now, though, I'm back to every time I eat! I'm having a bunch of Xrays this coming week. Pray with me that it's not a partial bowel obstruction and the docs can find a way out of my pain without any additional pills...I rattle when I walk!! (And please no more surgery! I've had 17 surgeries and feel like a patchwork quilt!) Thanks, Rusty 260/137 22-24's/4-6 size now

You're right Joanne. It IS easier for some than for others and no one seems to have an explanation for why. My sister in law needed to lose approx. 200 lbs; she lost 115 in the first 6 months and stopped. She's nearly 2 years out and hasn't lost anything else. I only needed to lose 112 and have lost 105. That doesn't seem fair, but apprently it is more common that many suppose. I AM sorry to hear that you're having health issues again. Your new picture looks so spectacular that I almost didn't recognize you and I had hoped that all was going well at last. I wish you felt better about what you've accomplished. Of course it's easy to say from so far away, but you look great and I'd think you'd be thrilled. (However only you know how you feel about things). Please keep us posted on the status of your eyesight. I'm trusting that it's something that can be treated. Love, Julie

I think you took it the wrong way. let me explain. Now you know very well that it has been easy for some. Now of course they had to have surgery, diet, exercise, eat protein. drink plenty of water. Just like I did. But they lost soooo much more. And it does come off easy for some in the beginning. Those who lost 100 lbs in 4 months. Yup, they had more to lose than I did. But I have seen people on here that had the same or less to lose and already at goal. These people were not more dedicated than I am. They were just as dedicated. But they lose easier. I am not saying this is the easy way out. I'm not stupid. I know it isn't. But it IS easier for some others. Joanne

Joanne, You should be happy with what you have accomplished and keep a good attitude. I am sorry about your problem from the diabeties and hope things go well. Reading your coment though didn't sit well with me when you said it was easy for people to loose 100 pounds. No Way was it easy..... It was anything but easy it took work and will still to get to goal. I feel bad that your not having much luck but don't say it was easy for others that simply is not true! Hope everything works out ok and keep the faith
