I personally hate taking more meds. But if it took away the aches and pains, memory loss, concentration loss, and gave me back my ability to lose weight, I'll take them. Even if it is on the low side or normal. My self esteem has gone down so much cause I feel stupid for not being able to pay attention in school, embarrassed for feeling lazy, ugly for my dry skin and thin hair (I had that before surgery). If I could just gain back some of the self esteem, I would be so happy.

I can relate to the laziness thing. It is possible that it isn't laziness but just pain tiredness. I know I am tired all the time and a lot of the time I just ache. Now they said exercise and the aches will go away. But I am sluggish and tired. I don't or can't get up to exercise.

I can't even think straight.

I hope they get it resolved soon. I'm hypothyroid, and I'm thinking that has slowed down my weightlosss. My husband said that another thing that may have slowed mine down(not to mention carb addiction) was my severe anemia. My body is trying to hold onto everything to preserve itself. I told my gyn that my cycle this last month wasn't nearly as heavy and he told me my body was being kind to me, so it could survive. Sigh...
I'm taking 100 mcg of synthroid, and my numbers look okay, but I wonder if I'm absorbing as much as I should. If they put you on synthroid, be sure to put it under your tongue so you will get the most out of it, and it will get to your system faster. Synthroid does not get along with any other drugs or food, so do it first thing in the morning. I have just recently put it on my bedside table so that I can put it under my tongue, and then I'll be ready to have coffee or whatever in an hour.
It helped with my cycles, as far as getting them to come on a more regular basis, but my fibroid (I just found out about) is causing the heavy bleeding and anemia(not to mention, we don't get enough iron in our post op diets)
Good Luck,
Debbie

Joanne,
I have a friend who always has thyroid tests show up as being on the low end of normal. Remember that thyroid tests look for the the precursor of the hormone, so you don't know how much of the precursor is actually being converted. She takes the thyroid medicine and does much better that way. She did need to convince her doctor to prescribe it, though.
Anyway, I'm of the opinion that if the test shows your results as being low but in the normal range, I'd seriously consider asking for the medicine. I had this opinion before I even knew this person. My tests were always normal, though. If you're suffering from this, it is very likely contributing to your slow weight loss and easy gains.
I do hope you get some answers soon. It's so much easier to face something once you know what it is.

Hello:
As of Sunday last, I had lost 79 since surgery and a total of 105 pounds since my highest weight.
Walked seven miles today and cut back my carbs a little. Hope everyone did well last month!
