Julie, You are doing great!! The worst thing we can do to ourselves is to compare to others. We all have different medical history, BMI's, co-morbities, how long we have been over weight (this I think makes a big difference too), life style, personal disablities, just so many thing to factor in that make this impossible to compare. My surgeon said if you lost over 100lbs in your 1st year your doing great. I felt like I was behind and was going to get a lecture but no I was told I got another good 6 months before I will probably plateau out so make the best of it. On the answer to your question I asked him these very questions and was told don't count calories it never worked before why would work now! Eat 3 meals a day NO SNACKS!!!!! eat a healthy balance of protein and veges and at 1 year I should be able to consume a small childs portion. Still concentrate on getting in the 64 oz of water a day. Hope this helps, Nancy -125

Awww Paula. I am sooooo happy for you! See, you can do it! Now I ended up, just as easily, putting 5 back on but I just went to liquids again yesterday and I am down 3. So 2 more to go to my all time low and 25 more to go for my personal goal. Once you start the liquid diet, it is easy to do. The first 2 days are the hardest. So once in a while I add in food. Like today I had 1 slice of deli roast beef as a snack. And a Carbwell protein bar as another. Here is another thing that helps a lot.... I eat sugar free jello all the time, and popsicles. Thery help me get a taste and minimal calories. I just hopped on now and saw this. I wasn't ignoring you. Been trying to get some things straightened out here. One being a job that I am trying to look for. Well, back to monster, hotjobs, etc. Again, I am very happy for you. If you guys need me for anything, drop me an email. Joanne

Thanks yall! Yes the little girl is my daughter Alexis, shes almost 7 and is a wonderful big sissy! Ok pregnancy details, it was wonderful up until the last few weeks, I could not eat with out being sick despite all the meds they tried to give me, I could not sleep because I was really uncomfortable! But it was so worth it! Let me tell you I did it drug free(epidural did not take after 2 trys) and it really did not hurt, like I thought it would. I had a quick delivry total labor from start to finish was 5 hrs, pushing time about 7 minutes 3 pushes and he was born! I had to hold in him LITERALLY to await the doctors arrival to deliver him! I went from 6 -10 and pushing in less then 20 minutes it was crazy! i told the nurse it was time to push and she she kind of laughed and came over and checked me and found that the head was crowning she told me to roll back over and to hang on and not to push despite the urge! Let me tell you what that is not an easy thing to do!! I held on to the bed so tight its a wonder I did not break it! Anyways it was wonderful! I am so happy my little man is here

I have begun using fitday.com again, too! I honestly didn't realize how much junk was going into my mouth until I started trying to keep up with it. I know if I were to get myself on a regular exercise schedule, things would probably improve, and I would begin to lose weight again. Diligent exercising has always been a very weak point for me. There are no excuses, but I find lots of reasons not to do it. I despise exercising in the afternoons. It takes up time, and I'm always tired, so I never feel like doing it. I'm working on making myself get up early in the mornings and do it, but that's easier said than done, too. That Bellydance DVD I bought is just waiting for me to try it! ;) Another question... Did anyone else's surgeon advise you to wait 2-3 minutes between each bite of food? If so, are you still doing this, or have you found yourself not waiting? At my one-year visit, I was at around 66% of my excess weight lost. Considerably behind the average of 85%, BUT.. my surgeon did say that lots of people do better their 2nd and 3rd years out. I just have to get my butt in gear! Thanks again for all the words of encouragement and the sharing!
