Topic: RE: Question of the Day-Monday
Yeah I noticed it's been pretty quiet here lately, guess everyone is busy and able to move around better now
I get my protien from food, youghurt, cheese, milk, meat, chicken I think I should have a protien shake a day though but don't know what to try.
Have a great day everyone!
Jill

Thanks for your prayers and positive advise, I will use it.
I am so very scared, and the weight on the other knee that is bad is going to be hard.
Thanks again

Wanda--
I can definitely relate to those days where I feel huge! What's funny is that is often the times where I have lost a few pounds!
Earlier this month I was at a convention in Nashville and I was amazed at the reactions I got from colleagues I haven't seen in over a year, some more than that. One woman who is a former supervisor, looked right through me until she stopped and read my name tag. Then she couldn't stop staring at me. It was a great feeling. WHile at the convention I actually lost about 10 pounds, not sure exactly how I managed it, but I need to keep that moving. I was consuming a lot of proteins through supplements and I took little snack bags with pretzels and nuts with me to my sessions so I could make sure I was eating enough.
My weight loss has slowed since my return but I also know that I need to really watch the eating. I don't know that I am always eating enough protein, I always get in my water and my vitamins, but need to focus on the protein!
Keep up the good work!

My favorite source of protein is my protein shake: All the Whey Protein Powder (22 grams of protein) mixed with 8 oz. Carb Countdown Skim Milk (12 grams of protein). I usually have it for breakfast. Then I usually have a Balance Bar (16 grams of protein) or CarbWise Bar (22 grams of protein) for my 3:00 p.m. snack.
Great idea, Mary!

Wishing you the best, Jill. Just think of how much healthier you are now after losing 250 pounds... you're going to feel like a new person after this knee surgery! I will keep my fingers crossed for you. Let us know how you're doing.

My favorite is a slim-whey bar. They're little and they make a great snack alternative when I feel the need.
I miss my Nectar protein and need to order some more. I tried something different (milk based) and then found out I'm lactose intolerant again and I've kind of just slacked off. I think I felt better and I know I did better weight wise when I was drinking Nectar regularly.
Think I'll go place an order now!

You'll do great. I used to work on the Orthopedic floor of the hospital and knee replacement is wonderful; it literally gives people their life back.
My mom had one done about a year ago and she's pain free now and so glad now that she did. Recovery can be a little slow, so give yourself time and be patient.
Keep us posted!
Topic: RE: How are you all doing?
I'm sorry I haven't been on much; life has just been so busy.
I was sorry to hear about your Mother; I know you were very close. I can't imagine what I'll do when my Mom is gone. I call her for everything: good and bad. I'm so glad you have the new house to look forward to as you move into a new phase of your life.
I haven't lost any weight since early January. In fact, I just gained 3 pounds and am working VERY hard to get back on track. I'm hanging at 148 lbs. which is okay, but I'd like to get to 135.
The house is chaotic...My son and daughter-in-law (and kids) have lived with us for a year while he finished pharmacy school and they've just bought their first house so there are packing boxes and junk everywhere.
Our 20 year old daughter just moved BACK home while she completes her clinical rotations for Physical Therapy school so there is also HER junk everywhere. Also, she's one of those kids who are determined to live their own life and make thier own decisions (even when they're bad) and she keeps me distraught (and on my knees!) alot.
The result of all that is STRESS...and we all know how I've always handled stress: FOOD! I've been eating way, way too much...too much grazing and I'm really having to force myself to stay focused on water, water, water.
But....I'm in this for the long haul and I'm still so grateful to have had surgery. Without it, I probably would have eaten myself numb by now and that's a physical impossibility so I'm having to learn to deal with stress in other ways and that's a big postive.
Love you all,
Julie
Topic: Question of the Day-Monday
Thought a question of the day thread might help pick up the activity on this board. We all been thru so much together, I hate to see the board become inactive.
NOTE: Anyone may post the question of the day. It can pertain to anything, does not have to be WLS related.
Today's Question:
What is your favorite protein shake or protein bar?
My favorite is till the Uturn bar. I eat 1 of them a day usually. 1/2 is a meal replacement for breakfast along with a small piece of fruit. The other 1/2 I eat later in the day.

Jill,
Sending hugs to you too. I just know everything will go smoothly for you and you will be home quickly. My girlfriend had a knee replacement 2 years ago and it has made a significant difference for her.
