Topic: Co-worker's interest....
Just last week, I had three different people where I work ask me about my surgery. These are people I don't see everyday...they work on different floors in different offices. Each one of them said they were thinking about having the surgery and two of them said their doctors had said something to them about looking into having the surgery. I referred them to this web site and told them if they wanted to learn about all the different types of surgery, they should check it out. They all had said they were apprehensive about the surgery, but after seeing my results over the last 15 months, they thought it might not be such a bad thing afterall. One of the ladies I talked with said she was going to try to lose her weight through diet, one more time. She asked me what and how much I eat. I told her what she wanted to know and wished her well....and I truly hope she can get to where she wants to be. I told her the surgery is not for everyone. It just seemed so strange that three people asked me about it in one week.

Yea....Mary!!! All the extra work and exercising is paying off. I would be just tickled pink if I got on the scale and it was two pounds lighter! This past weekend, I started running in the pool. Our shallow end is fairly big and I just ran around that end for about 10 minutes. I could really feel it in my legs. I plan on doing that at least 4 to 5 times each week and maybe add more time as I go along. Its great exercise for my Lily (my pooch) because she loves to get in and swim along beside me while I run. She's my walking buddy also. She's the perfect exercise companion...always wants to go along and never complains! Take care....Wanda

Topic: RE: How much food are you eating?
Hi, Michelle.... I too feel like I'm eating way more than I should. I can hold anywhere from 8 to 10 ounces at a time, depending on what I'm eating. I can down an 8 ounce protein shake in about 5 minutes and not feel full at all now. I really have to watch what I eat now, because I'm so scared I'm going to start putting weight back on. I'm not losing weight any more and feel its because I can eat so much. I try to remember that the amount I eat is no where near what I was eating before surgery, but it sure feels like it at times! I guess as long as I'm not putting any weight back on, I'm doing okay. I'd like to lose 25 more pounds. I've upped my exercising and water intake. Hoping it helps. Wanda

Topic: RE: 15 MONTHS OUT & STILL "LOSING"??
Alicia, I don't really have any better advice for you, but I've been at the same weight since 10 months out and the same size for the past 5. All I can say is that I adjust the amounts I eat a day according to my activity. The days I run I tend to eat about 5 meals. The days I don't, I generally only eat 2-3 times. If I'm doing harder work, I do eat more than if I'm vegging at home. Some of this is planned, and some I just either know I need to eat or that I'm not hungry because I haven't used up much energy that day. I thought I'd go a little lower in my weight (I'm consistently right around 150), but even with all the running I do, I haven't. That tells me I'm probably where I'm intended to be. In your case, your body might not be at what it considers ideal yet. I really do have a large frame, and this weight fits me well. I think you look absolutely beautiful right where you are, but I don't live in your body. Think long and hard about where you are now and where you want to be and what is healthy for you. Then maybe consult a dietician or nutritionist and see what sorts of foods you should add to keep from losing more weight. My first suggestion would be to add in some extra nuts and fruits. Linn

Congratulations! How exciting. It's nice to know that after all this time, it's still working. I'm sure the packing, working around the house has helped to push your metabolism and the pool will probably be wonderful for you. I'm so jealous (of the pool)! We used to have one at a previous home and I just loved it. I miss it a great deal.

Topic: FINALLY -- PLATEAU BROKEN
Finally after 3 months I have broken the plateau. I lost two lbs this week and am at a new low of 176 lbs!!!!!! I'm so excited. I didn't think I would ever get below 178. That makes my loss so far a -129 lbs. I haven't changed my eating, but think all the unpacking has had a significant impact. Millie (our dog) and I walk at least once a day too. Pool should be done this week so I plan to live in it this summer. This upped exercise should help too. Mary

Here's an example of my day: Breakfast: 1/2 protein bar (UTurn) small banana or some type of fruit Lunch: protein (2 or 3 oz I think) Dinner: protein (2 or 3 oz I think) few bites of salad or veggies Snacks: nuts (almonds or cashews) cheese (1 oz serving) Healthy Choice Ice Cream bar (don't eat these all in one day, just giving examples) If I order a 6 inch Subway turkey sandwich, I can only eat 1/2 of it. If I order a boca burger (veggie burger) I can barely eat half. A cooked breakfast might be an egg with a little cheese and 1/2 an English muffin. Some days I can eat more than others. I think the density of the food makes a huge difference. For example a Boca Burger sandwich is much more filling than a cheese sandwich. Mary

What I can eat often varies from day to day. Generally, I can eat anything and in fairly normal sized portions...at least they seem normal to me, but I think they're still significantly smaller than most people would select. A whopper Jr. will fill me up for lunch (and frequently I don't finish all of the bun) or I like 1/2 of a 6" Subway double meat Club sandwich (again...I throw away alot of the bread...it's just too much). If I'm eating solid protein like steak, I can eat 4-6 oz and little else. Soft, carby foods like pasta, chilli, etc. I can eat more so I have to watch it. Ice cream makes me sick and I had another episode with chicken last night. darn! I love chicken, but if I'm not EXTREMELY careful to chew, chew, chew...I'll be in terrible pain praying for the vomiting that I know will start within 30 minutes...Then, I'm fine again. I'm struggling against grazing and it's worse of the weekends when I'm at home. I've held steady at the same weight for over 3 months now, and it's the same weight I was at age 20, so I'm thinking this is just my body's natural weight. It looks good and it feels good so I'm not worrying about losing anymore. I'm sure you're doing great! Julie

I can eat a lot more than I thought I would be able to. I ate all the meat and almost all of the bottom bun on an Arby's beef and cheddar. 4 months ago. I could only eat most of the meat and then was hurting. I can eat 2 kyrstals, bun and all. I am maintaining my weight. I go up 3lbs in a given 2 to 3 wks, and then back down 5lbs. I suspect I'm here at this weight until I have my surgery and get into a good exercise routine. I know I'll get these last few lbs. I'll just have to do it the old fashion way. Move more and eat less or more wisely. Deb
