I've had a consult, but nothing else yet. I can't even get in to surgery until October, and that's just too late in the year for me. My mom and I are going to do a half marathon in January and I won't have time to train. I'll have to wait until later in Jan or early Feb. I'll be interested in hearing about your experiences with PS, so please keep us informed! Linn

Thanks for the reminder. Let me tell you though the part in there about how we can't "tolerate" our vitamins. I am one of them I get nausea when I take my multivitamin so I would cut them in half and still felt sick but now I cut them into four (I take chewable Centrum) and take them in half hour increments. My point is I didn't stop taking them cause they made my tummy hurt I know I need them and I found a way to take them and keep my tummy happy. I thought I'd share that. Annette 291/157

Good Morning .... Worked out in the pool for an hour last night. What fun to have the pool in our backyard. They were predicting thunder storms so I got my swim in earlier in the evening. Well, the good news is that I've now lost 130 lbs ... a new low for me. The bad news is that it is a direct result I'm sure from dumping last night. It was so hot yesterday **** degrees) that I couldn't sleep even with the air and fans on. So I got up and ate a sugar free popsicle then it was so good, I ate a second one. Finally found some I like and only had 1 gram of sugar alcohols in it. Had eaten 2 before during the day but never two right after each other. Within 10 minutes I had heart palpitations and about 20 minutes later vomiting and diarrhea. It lasted almost 3 hours!!!!! Not a fun time at all. It really scared me too as my heart was racing. A couple of times I was tempted to have Hal take me to emergency. Got out my WLS books by Barbara Thompson and was amazed to read that Sorbital can cause dumping in some people. Gosh I only had 2 popsicles with no sugar in them, just sorbital (total of 2 grams). Have always been sensitive to sugar alcohols, but was amazed what this did to me especially in the low quantity it was too. This morning I feel fine. Got a couple hours of sleep too. Threw out the popsicles as soon as I got up. Definitely not going to eat even 1 of them again. Getting together on Saturday and Sunday with my WLS AZ buddies along with 2 from CA and 2 from New York. Everyone is coming here on Sunday for a barbecue and pool party. Should be lots of fun. Can't wait. Hope you all have a great day whatever you do. Mary 305/175/???

Great that you are approved for your surgery (PS). That is wonderful. I still have a ways to go to get to goal and at this point not sure that I will do PS at all. I definitely understand having it done. A couple of my friends went thru PS and love the results. Wishing you the best. Mary

I respect Susan Maria and all that she has done in her shop for the WLS community, but did feel some of "her statements" were a bit har****hink we all go thru major adjustments after the surgery learning what works for us and what doesn't with regards to protein drinks, bars, and food. I think sometimes we need to vent/whine to work it out within ourselves. I agree 100% that we need to be compliant with protein, vitamins and exercise!!!! I do worry about those that do not follow the rules for these things as I know how important they are. I feel blessed to have had this surgery. My weight loss has given me back my life. I can do things I haven't done in years and I feel good. I know that getting in the protein, vitamins, and exercise are the main reasons I'm doing so good. Mary

You are one of the lucky ones to get approved. Good luck on the day of your surgery and let us know how your progress is going once you get out of the hospital and are able to type. Let us know when the big day is. I will keep you in my thoughts. Annette 291/157

I visited my plastic surgeon about 2 months ago. We have been waiting for my new health insurance to kick in. It did as of July 1. The nurse informed me that the dr. did indeed code my surgery as reconstructive. I am looking at having a midsection tuck and excess skin removed from my legs. I have lost a total of 171 pounds, I bounce with the last 5 pounds. I must admit I am more nervous about the plastic surgery than I was about the gastric bypass. Oh well. Just wanted to check in and find out if anyone else has had these surgeries and what was it like? Wish me luck. Thanks Delainya 321/151 at goal(For now)

There you go! I hope your friend does well with his protein intake... from food, drinks, shakes... whatever... what matters is getting it in! Angie http://www.geocities.com/tiger_angie

Thank YOU for understanding why I posted it I know I personally appreciate to read stuff like this to refocus and stay on track... the more time that passes, the easier it seems to become to forget. We need the reminders, I agree! Hugs, Angie http://www.geocities.com/tiger_angie
