I'm ready for plastic surgery

I went to see a Kaiser plastic surgeon in Downey last week, and boy was it a strange experience. The doc (Dr. Kivuls) spent a lot of time with me, but almost never made eye contact. I got the impression that he didn't much like doing plastic surgery on post-bariatric patients--after all, it's only cosmetic. When it was all done I was quite confused about what things were possible to have done, though I did clearly understand that the only thing he was willing to do was cut off the apron--but that would be limited to what he could reach on each side. He made it clear they would be no turning me on the table to get to hard to reach areas. Does anyone know of other Kaiser docs in the Downey office who don't mind doing post-bariatric cases? At this point I have no confidence in this guy and would never go into surgery with him. I'm sure I've heard of others among us who got more than the bare minimum from kaiser. Dose anyone have info to share? I'd really love to hear from you. Also, I'd like to say that I don't visit this board very often--I'm just too busy. I posted a few weeks ago and very much appreciate the responses that I got. Thanks to everyone for taking the time to share.

Lynda, First if you are NOT comfortable with a surgeon or do not have faith in a surgeon, it is time to see someone else. My understanding when I was a Kaiser patient is that they only will remove the apron (excess skin) not do any of the muscle tightening that so many need. You will see good improvement with that procedure, but may not be totally satisfied with the outcome. I thought that Kaiser would allow the patient to pay themselves for the additional work to be done. You might also want to check with UCLA. I have a friend who has had plastic surgeries done there thru the teaching school and has been extremely pleased with the results. Hope you find some answers and a surgeon who you like and trust. Lynda, How exciting that you are to the point that you are looking into plastic surgery now! Its a shame that the first doctor you went to left you with such a bad impression. I can't offer any advice but wanted you to know I hope you can find a doctor that you are comfortable with and that has your best interest at heart. Wanda

Lynda, I'm sending you a private e-mail in a minute. I contacted a friend who had PS in Bellflower and she is loaded with good information. Mary
