Can anyone tell me a Calcium Supplement that they take that isn't chewable? I'm 8 weeks pregnant and just don't like the taste of my Calcium Citrate Chewable Wafers any longer!! Hope everyone is doing well!! Thanks, Milissa

Hey Milissa . . . I just ordered Calcium Citrate Liquid (Tropical Oasis) from Susan Maria & I really like it. I keep it in the fridge & just take a gulp every am & pm. It's a somewhat tart orange flavor. I got this huge bottle for $22.50 I think. I'm not sure how it will do with your queezy stomach, as I remember when I was pregnant I had a hard time holding a lot of things down. But now, 4 months after giving birth - my hair is falling out like crazy again. My doctor recommended extra calcium . . . although I think its just another one of those times that I just have to "ride out" . . . but I figure the calcium can't hurt. Congratulations on the baby!!! Hugs, Amanda

Thank you Amanda... I'm not sure I can handle liquid calcium right now, but I will definately keep it in mind for after the baby is born!

Hey Milissa - I just take the regular Citracal+d and/or Citracal+Magnesium - there a little bit on the horse pill side of things, size-wise, but basically don't have any flavor or taste. I know they also did just release some different ones that are in Chocolate, Chocolate/Mint, Caramel, etc. I found them at the local Walmart Supercenter; about 6 bucks for 30 - these are definitely chewable, but don't taste too bad... And lastly... congratulations! ...Nick

Thank you so much Mary! My husband and I are very excited! It's been a very long road to get to this point and I just don't want to do anything to jeapordize my pregnancy! Being pregnant after WLS is kind of scary in the sense of hoping to not gain too much weight. I never did reach goal weight, so that makes it even more imperitive to watch my weight!! Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to go crazy with it try not to gain any weight... My OB said I should gain anywhere from 15 to 25 pounds to have a healthy pregnancy. I'll keep you all posted! Thank you again for your well wishes! Milissa

I've been taking regular (non-chewable) Calcium pills since 6-months post-op. Any old store-brand vitamin will do. Be sure that you take 600 mg two to three times a day, according to your OB's instructions. You body cannot absorb more than 600 within two hours, so the rest would be a waste. Have you tried the chocolate Viactive calcium suppliments? They taste just like chocolate candy, and you could take those 3 times a day, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Hope this is helpful. Best wishes on your pregnancy! ~Laura (snooping around from the August 2004 board.)
