I am about 17months out and have lost over 200pounds. I am having ALOT of loose skin and have been getting rashes under breasts and in groin areas, under stomach and top and side of private. GOSH I have been in tears all weekend, I am using powder, Rx Ointment and have a appt wedensday with a Dermatoligist. I am in such agony I don't know if it will wait till then. Going to the ER was a thought but how could they help this??? I know I desperatly need a TT & Legs but until then how can I get this to cool off it's beet red and getting worse. I use a fan and let it air. If anyone has any advise they know works or can help please let me know. I hope I can sleep , Thanks for listening Jill

Jill, Sorry you're going through so much pain! Try using Gold Bond Powder. Its a medicated powder, somewhat like baby powder, but has medication in it. Hope this helps. Wanda

Jill, Gotta say this first... Way to go on the weight loss! I'm so sorry to hear that you are having this problem. It is certainly a miserable one! I had this covering the whole front of my body when I was stuck in the hospital after complications. It was horrible! My doctor told me that using powder was the worst thing you can do for this problem. The powder holds the moisture there instead of getting rid of it. I have lost 225 pounds, and occasionally I have had that problem too. I honestly have found success with the simplest things. First of all, I keep the areas extra clean . Then after I dry with a towel, I use the hair dryer to make sure all the skin in the folds is dry. I have found that the hair dryer is better than the fan because the warm heat makes sure all the dampness disappears. Next comes my SECRET weapon ... Every day when I put on my deodorant/antiperspirant, I put it in those folds where these problems occur. I use Secret solid powder scent, and I honestly don't have this issue much at all any more. The dampness from sweating is what causes this problem so if you decrease that, the problem goes away. The powder scent also adds a nice smell and that is a bonus gift. I am sure that the dermatologist will help. I know that waiting until Wednesday will seem like an eternity, but keep yourself comfortable and take care! Best, Amy

Thanks for asking She was really nice and symphatic, and said that with the warm weather here in Az, and loosing so much weight moisture comes and creates the irritation . She gave me some anti-fungal powder and a RX for Cream but the regular phamacy doesn't have the mixture so have to fill it at a orgainc pharmacy. Also she wanted me to take a RX pill 3 of them and it's $25.00- that's crazy so waiting to hear about something else. Also she said it would come and go till the extra skin is gone TT. When I was heavy I didn't have the rashes, she said it's from the skin. I am a clean freak, and shower everyday so hope this works. How are you doing? Thanks for your support it's very much appricated. Oh do you know if we are allowed to take steroids? I will call my surgeon for sure. Again Thanks!

I don't have any experience with taking steroids since surgery, so I can't help you there. But I am interested in what your doctor says about us taking them. I have an area at the bottom of my belly that hangs down a little since I've lost weight, but nothing like what you have. I know how aggravating my little area is... I can't imagine what you're going through. One good thing about it is you have plenty of proof that you need your TT. I tried Amy's suggestion about drying the area with a blow dryer and applying deoderant instead of powder. Works like a charm. Wanda
